If you look it up at Kabbalahsecrets.com you'll see how he did it. He also said it relates to the Arizal's passing, which was in 5332 and the gematria of the word for death is 446, so when we add 5332 + 446, we also get 5778. Moreover the complementary numbers(sefirot) to 5-7-7-8 are 5-3-3-2. You have to love the beauty in G-d's ways!
