Tikkun 19 – 4
The two aspects of the Torah, which are the Oral and the Written are represented by the 53 Torah portions that are read on Shabbat.
The inner courtyard of the Holy Temple represents the written Torah and the outer yard is the oral Torah. The gate between them is opened only on Shabbat.
The 53 comes from Song of Songs 4:12 “גַּן נָעוּל, אֲחֹתִי כַלָּה; גַּל נָעוּל, מַעְיָן חָתוּם” “A garden is shut up, my sister, my bride; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. “. Garden = גַּן= 53.
The gate to the Garden is locked during the six days and on Shabbat it is opened.
God created the world in a 6 day process and on the seventh day he opens the supernal gate to provide energy to his creation. The opening of the gate on the first Shabbat was supposed to stay open forever. Because of the Sin, the gate closed to separate between the Tree of Life that is inside the Garden (inner courtyard with the Holy of Holies) and the tree of Knowledge Good and Bad outside the gate (outer courtyard).
Genesis 3:24 “He drove out Adam…. and put the flaming sword to keep the way to the Tree of Life.”
Adam’s sin corrupted the balance in the Garden of Eden and created separation between the upper and lower.
This is the explanation to Song of Song 4:12 “a fountain is sealed”.
Since “the sin” we need to work to earn the Light. On Shabbat we receive the Light that we earned for the work we did during the past week. The light of Shabbat is given based on the individual spiritual vessel created that week. Our sages said “Whoever does the work before Shabbat, eats on Shabbat”. “מי שטרח בערב שבת, יאכל בשבת”
Shabbat is the resting day because it is all about receiving the light. Don’t close the gate to your light.

Thank you for this brilliant, illuminating commentary!
Elegant simplicity, clarity and wisdom….like a great work of art,
physics theory, line of poetry, aria or jazz riff…resonates in
the heart and mind.
I am just a humble channel for the light of the Zohar. It is all comes from above when I study the Zohar and share with everyone. It is not me, its the Light. Thank God for it.
Got to keep the “gates” open.
I like the saying from the sages, “Whoever does the work before Shabbat, eats on Shabbat”. I believe it strongly. Every action counts!
Thank you, Zion. I will do my best to help keep the “gates” opened, not just for me, but for everyone.
God bless you.
Kae’s right. Thank you, Zion Nefesh, for your elegant commentary and for your unfailing daily gift of presentation.
Every day is a presentation of our joy for others.
The clarity of your remarks makes shabbat comprehensible to me – after nearly seventy years!
Thank you Zion
It’s pure art
i feel I am there
I can see it
thanks to you
and the Zohar

closer to the Light
in joy & hessed
Be blessed
That is the gift of the Zohar and the Daily Connection to it.
Thanks Zion for this wonderfull work that you do.
I am very happy for all that i am learning, i think is like i am living a another world.
But it is hard to me to read hebrew, i discovered that i want know everything all the zohar like am hunger to know everything the first time that i scann the alphabet i felt around on me like something very warm and peacefull and i looked over my shoulder to see who was there with me, was something wonderfull can you explain me that.
Blessings and Light
The first time you connect to something it is the level of Keter. The seed of everything that it contains.
You first connection with the sacred text brought you to the Tree of Life. After that you ‘dropped’ to the real world where you need to work to achieve that level again.
That experience left you with a big desire for more of the same. But now it is not as easy.
The gift is that you KNOW that there is a great light to reach for. Keep working on it and when you get distracted is because of the negative side want to ‘milk’ your energy before you get there.
Expect ‘downs’ because this is how the spiritual system work and always remeber the first connection and the great love it contains.
First time I offered chocolate to my little girl she didn’t want to touch it but after she did, she keeps coming for it.
If you are reading the Daily Zohar for a while you know that Malchut was eleveated to Binah to get the same shape and Light but on the way down the Light of Binah left behind and Malchut left only with the desire to go back to it.
The Daily Zohar scanning is here to support our spiritual immune system by connecting to the higher levels on a daily basis. There is no Daily Zohar on Shabbat because then we are already in Binah.
How can I do if a have a business (bakery, pizeria) and is open 7 days. I have to closed de shabat? I can put the employee work the shabat?
