Pinchas 341, 342

The standing silent prayer (Amida) has 18 blessings. Each blessing has the YHVH name and when we add all the letters of the name, we get 72 (18×4). The three prayers of morning, afternoon and night make it 216 (72×3), that is the number of letters in the 72 names and the numerical value for חסד, Chessed. When we add 32 for the 32 paths of wisdom that come from Chokmah, we get 248 that represents a complete body and the central column.

Ezekiel 1:24
“וָאֶשְׁמַע אֶת-קוֹל כַּנְפֵיהֶם כְּקוֹל מַיִם רַבִּים כְּקוֹל-שַׁדַּי, בְּלֶכְתָּם ”
“And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty”

‘The Sulam’ (the commentary on the Zohar by Rabbi Ashlag) reveals that קול, ‘voice’ is the aspect of יהוה YHVH and דבור, ‘speech’ is the aspect of אדני ADNY. This tells about the movement between upper and lower levels during the prayer.

Numbers 7:89
“ וּבְבֹא מֹשֶׁה אֶל-אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, לְדַבֵּר אִתּוֹ, וַיִּשְׁמַע אֶת-הַקּוֹל מִדַּבֵּר אֵלָיו מֵעַל הַכַּפֹּרֶת אֲשֶׁר עַל-אֲרֹן הָעֵדֻת, מִבֵּין שְׁנֵי הַכְּרֻבִים; וַיְדַבֵּר, אֵלָיו. ”
“And when Moses went into the tent of meeting that He might speak with him, then he heard the Voice speaking unto him from above the ark-cover that was upon the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim; and He spoke unto him. ”

The voice that is a revelation of the light force is silent and is the aspect of Chassadim of Zeir Anpin that is drawn down. The speech is the aspect of the light of Chokmah that we ‘return’ with the words of the prayer and elevate up.

The Zohar tells us that the prayer is a precept that connects to all precepts of the Torah because 248 (explained above) is for the 248 precepts of “You shall do…” and the aspect of Chessed whereas, 365 precepts of “You Shall not do…” is the aspect of the light of Chokmah that we ‘push’ back.

The three daily prayers connect us in the morning to Chessed, in the afternoon to Gevurah and at night to Tiferet. These spiritual connections will bring balance and affect positive change in our lives.

Morning connection takes about 30 minutes or less with shortcuts. Afternoon and night takes 10 minutes each. Not a lot of time from our busy day but great benefits for the soul.
