7. אָמַר הַמְּנוֹרָה הַקְּדוֹשָׁה, עָלֶיהָ נֶאֱמַר (שם ד) וְזֹאת הַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר שָׂם מֹשֶׁה וְגוֹ’. בָּהּ הִזְהַרְתָּ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּשְׁעַת מִיתָתְךָ, בָּהּ בֵּרַכְתָּ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכָל שֵׁבֶט וְשֵׁבֶט. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם לג) וְזֹאת הַבְּרָכָה אֲשֶׁר בֵּרַךְ מֹשֶׁה וְגוֹ’. וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ פֵּרְשׁוּהָ הַחֲבֵרִים בַּעֲלֵי הַמִּשְׁנָה, שֶׁכָּתוּב (במדבר יט) זֹאת הַתּוֹרָה אָדָם כִּי יָמוּת בְּאֹהֶל, וְאָמְרוּ עָלֶיהָ, מַה זֶּה כִּי יָמוּת? אֶלָּא אֵין הַתּוֹרָה מִתְקַיֶּמֶת אֶלָּא בְּמִי שֶׁמֵּמִית עַצְמוֹ עָלֶיהָ, וְאֵין מִיתָה אֶלָּא עֹנִי, שֶׁעָנִי חָשׁוּב כַּמֵּת.
588. שֶׁהוּא קָרְבַּן עוֹלֶה וְיוֹרֵד. מִצַּד שֶׁל עָשִׁיר עוֹלֶה וַדַּאי, שֶׁמִּתְעַלֶּה עָלָיו. שֶׁכָּל הָעֲשִׁירִים, כָּל טוֹב שֶׁהֵם עוֹשִׂים, כֻּלָּם (רֻבָּם) לְזַכּוֹתָם לָעוֹלָם הַבָּא, וְשָׁם הִיא כֶּתֶר עַל רֹאשָׁם. הַבֵּינוֹנִי שֶׁעוֹבֵד כְּדֵי לִזְכּוֹת בִּשְׁנֵי עוֹלָמוֹת, הוּא מַחֲצִית הַשֶּׁקֶל עִמּוֹ בָּעוֹלָם הַבָּא, כְּמוֹ הַמַּצָּב שֶׁנֶּחֱלֶקֶת, חֶצְיָהּ תַּחַת הַמַּפָּה לָאֲפִיקוֹמָן אַחַר הַסְּעוּדָה, וְחֶצְיָהּ לַמִּצְוָה קֹדֶם סְעוּדָה. וּמִצַּד זֶה נֶאֱמַר בְּאֶסְתֵּר, (אסתר ה) מַה שְּׁאֵלָתֵךְ וְיִנָּתֶן לָךְ וּמַה בַּקָּשָׁתֵךְ עַד חֲצִי הַמַּלְכוּת וְתֵעָשׂ.

Deuteronomy 33:1
”וְזֹאת הַבְּרָכָה, אֲשֶׁר בֵּרַךְ מֹשֶׁה אִישׁ הָאֱלֹקְים–אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: לִפְנֵי, מוֹתוֹ.”
”And this is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, blessed the children of Israel before his death”

The night before we read the portion of V’Zot Habracha is called Hoshanah Rabah. It marks the end of the holiday of Sukkot and is the time when the plans for our new year are determined and sealed. The next day we start with explosions of blessings that is the event we call “Simchat Torah”, “The Joy of Torah”.

On Simchat Torah, we take the Torah out of the Ark for the last reading. We do not follow the regular process of taking the Torah scroll directly to the reading table. On this day we make seven Hakafot, which is the march and dance with the Torah around the reading table. The Torah represents Zeir Anpin and the reading table represents Malchut. It is similar to the wedding process. We connect the seven sefirot together and create unification between Zeir Anpin and Malchut. The result is the ‘rebirth’ of the Torah as we start the reading from the beginning immediately after finishing the last portion of the Torah.

We make the connection from the lower level to upper level, connecting Malchut, Deuteronomy, V’Zot Habracha, with Keter, Genesis 1, and the story of Creation.
The sum of the first seven letters of the first verse of the last portion, ”וְזֹאת הַבְּרָ” is 621 and it equals to כתר, Keter + one. It gives it the ‘key’ to connect to the ‘Keter’ of the Torah that is the letter ב of בראשית, which is the first word of the Torah and represents its blessings.

We start the New Year with the blessings that Moses blesses all the 12 children of Israel, who is Jacob. They were not alive at the time of the blessings but in this process the Light of his blessings is revealed for the twelve months of the coming year.

The Holy Ari, Rabbi Isaac Luria, reveals to us that on Simchat Torah we have a complete unification of the Light and the Vessel, Zeir Anpin and Malchut. Because of such higher-level connection of Light and Vessel, we should not make physical unification of man and woman so we can benefit from the spiritual unification.
