Zohar Shoftim

When a witness is found to be falsifying the testimony the Torah instructs us to do to him as he had meant to do onto his brother.

Deuteronomy 19:19
“וַעֲשִׂיתֶם לוֹ, כַּאֲשֶׁר זָמַם לַעֲשׂוֹת לְאָחִיו; וּבִעַרְתָּ הָרָע, מִקִּרְבֶּךָ”
“then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.”

The Torah is very strict here. If a witness has evil thoughts and plans to cause harm to another person with his testimony then he gets the ‘treatment’ that was supposed to happen to the one being judged.
The Torah uses ‘had meant’ and not ‘had done’. If the false witness wasn’t caught in his lies, the verdict would have been executed based on the false testimony. The intention of a false witness is equal to executing the punishment.

The Zohar also brings in the next paragraph the Egyptians as an example. They drowned the males of the Israelites in the Nile. The final outcome was that they lost all their firstborn and their army drowned in the sea.

It is very important for us to not pass judgment on others especially when talking or ‘gossiping’ with others. If one makes another person think negatively about another, he may carry the correction process related to the false statement he gave out.

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”.
