.

Zohar Vayera

Rabbi Eliezer passed away on Shabbat and Rabbi Akiva was not there by his side. He came after Shabbat and found that his teacher was gone. He ripped his clothes, cried and screamed to the heavens, saying ‘tell the sun and the moon that the light that was brighter than them is now dark.

There is a great pain when someone loses a great light he enjoyed in his life. For student like Rabbi Akiva, losing a connection to a sea of pure Light was like the entire world turned dark.

When a soul of a great Tzadik leaves his body returning to heaven, all the spiritual levels are open during that time to allow the soul a safe and clear passage. The channel is as big as the soul of the Tzadik. Those who are near the Tzadik as the soul departs from the body benefit from the great Light and can absorb from the wisdom of the Tzadik according to their vessels.

Rabbi Chaim Vital, the main student of the Holy Ari ‘missed’ being by the side of his teacher when he passed away. There were also other great Tzadikim that passed away without transferring the greater Light of their wisdom to their main students. God doesn’t give us an easy path to a complete Tikkun of the world. We must do the work by ourselves. With each generation after the Holy Ari and the Baal Shem Tov there was a decline in the level of righteousness in the world.
Even though there were great Tzadikim and there are still some hidden ones, none can come close to the levels of the Rabbi Shimon, the Holy Ari and Baal Shem Tov. We had the Rashash that came as reincarnation of the Ari to reveal more secrets in addition to the previous writings of the Ari but he was just a temporary gift of Light to the world.
Rabbi Shimon could have redeemed the entire world but was not allowed because according to God’s plan we must go through a great work and suffering to earn the merit of the Final Redemption.
Many Tzadikim of recent generations passed away, leaving us with people in leadership that are much less than them and or with personal agendas.

The only righteous that we can rely on, support, and serve is Rabbi Shimon. He left the Zohar for us that reveals his soul and wisdom. It’s an open channel of Light that we can always tap into it and expand our vessel and wisdom.
