Zohar Chaye Sarah
After the first sin God ‘punished’ the Snake, telling him (Genesis 3:15)
“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
The Zohar explains that this ‘enmity’ is ability for the Snake to hold to the vessel of the woman.
There’s a woman of Malchut and there’s a woman of valor “אִשָּׁה יִרְאַת ה” (Proverb 31:30).
“And (enmity) between your seed and her seed”
‘Your seed’ is the aspect of nations from the Snake’s side that go against Israel.
‘Her seed’ is the aspect of the nation of the Israelites that are from the side of the Light.
‘He shall bruise you on the head’ is the Holy One Blessed be He, that will remove the Snake from the world as it is written (Isaiah 25:8)
“He will swallow up death forever; and YHVH GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for YHVH has spoken.”
The Snake brought mortality on Adam and Eve. God punished Adam, Eve, the Snake, and the Earth. But even though the Snake challenges everything we do, that connection of enmity that he has on us is only temporary because within the words of the ‘punishment’, God immediately promised to remove the Snake from the world and restore immortality for ‘his people’, the Israelites.
