The month of Elul (Virgo) is known as the month of The Tikunei Zohar. Kabbalists recommend reading the entire Tikunim from the first day of Elul until Yom Kippur, a forty-day period.
Why?
After the sin of the Golden Calf and the breaking of the first tablets, Moses ascended Mount Sinai pleading to God to forgive the Israelites and to restore the Torah for them. The day was Rosh Chodesh Elul, and after 40 days–on Yom Kippur–Moses came down with the second set of tablets, bringing the new Torah to the world.
During those 40 days, Moses created openings for the Light of Mercy and the ability to cleanse our souls in order to receive the Torah. The 10 spies Moses had sent to tour the Land of Israel came back after 40 days, on the 8th of Av, with a negative message about the land. They committed a big sin of evil speech for which they all died on the 17th of Elul, 40 days after their sin. This was part of the cleansing process of this month, so this is our opportunity to cleanse our souls during this month in order to receive the great light on Yom Kippur.
The world was created on the 25th of Elul. On that day, we also have the Hilulah (Death Anniversary) of Rabbi Elazar, the son of Rabbi Shimon. They both brought to the world the Tikunei Zohar with the teaching of Moses who is called in the Zohar ‘Ra’yah Meheimnah’ (The Faithful Shepherd) and Elijah the Prophet, who is Pinchas.
The Tikunei Zohar is comprised of 70 studies on the first word of the Torah, בראשית, “In the Beginning.” They connect us to the seed level of Creation, the first six letters of the Ana B’Koach, אבג יתץ, and the 70 inner levels of the Torah. This gives the Tikunei Zohar the immense power to cleanse the soul and prepare us for the days of judgment of Rosh Hashanah and the day of reward, Yom Kippur.
There are positive spiritual energies available to us this month. Stay on the right path and focus on Tikunei Zohar book.
Most people don’t have the Tikunei Zohar in their library as it is not included in the regular sets of the five books of the Torah. Some Hebrew sets, however, include part or all of it.

Shalom, Shalom R’ Zion! Todah rabbah! A question -- is there a calendar or schedule for what/how much to read each day during Elul (similar to all the ‘yomi’ calendars that have come out for various tracks of limud these days)? Is it necessary to complete the entire sefer Tikunei Zohar during the next 40 days (especially if one had difficulty with the Aramaic -- tho there are volumes available in Targum to Lashon H’Kodesh, B”H!!) … or is it better to just read a paragraph or two daily and connect as best as one can?
Todah rabbah!! Ketiva v’chatima tovah!
B’ahavah,
--Menachem
Menachem, The best is to use the Aramaic version as it is the original language of the Zohar and reveal it’s energy at the highest level.
You can use the Yomi Version (354 pages) and read and/or scan 9 pages a day to be able to complete the Tikunei Zohar before Yom Kippur.
Read few minutes a day (as much as you can) and then scan the rest of the pages. That is how I did it many times in past years.
B”H
Shalom R’ Zion! Todah Rabbah!! Hazak u’baruch!
another question (well, 2 -- lol) -- the 354-page Yomi version -- where to find? Also -- the version you’re offering (got the e-mail this morning) -- is that the Yomi version or is it the Aramaic/Targum L”K (side-by-side columns) version?
This is the link to the PDF that is exactly like the printed book we offer for free.

No Targum (Hebrew translation). All Aramaic.

Beautiful sefer!! Thanks so much -- hazak u’baruch!
Another question -- would the nine pages a day begin with the first hakdamah -- or with the first tikkun?
Begin with the first Hakdamah.
Thank you Zion, I have downloaded the Zohar pdf I can feel the energy when looking at it.
Regarding reading, my hebrew reading is very slooow..
Is it ok just to scan I won’t understand much anyway?
Love and light, your humble student Daliah x
If you can read then read a little, scan a lot. We should always make efforts in order to expand the vessel and receive a greater light.
Even 99.9% of fluent Hebrew and Aramaic readers won’t understand the text without a long study of the Zohar and the Tree of Life.
Thank you Zion for your guidance. I have a question and a thought. My question is: i have read many times that we should listen to the sound of a Shofar every day during the month of Elul, is that true? If so, my thought is: …Do you think we can do a yutube link on the bottom of all your comments during the month of Elul so when DZ readers open DZ to read (see the light) of Zohar; we can also be assured to ‘hear’ the Shofar blowing each day? I do not want to make more work for you but I just though it would be of great light for us to HEAR with our ears good every day just as we see with our eyes the light of Zohar.
Thank you so much for considering this;
With much love and great respect to you Zion, your wife, and all Dz family
The month of Elul is the time for cleansing. The Shofar is a tool that help us with that. The Tikunei Zohar is another significant tool.
The bottom line is that reading the Tikune Zohar every day is the best cleanser. The Daily Zohar do that for over three years. You don’t have to go every morning to a synagogue but reading Zohar every day will do as good. Between Shofar only and zohar only, I would choose Zohar in a split second.
But on Rosh Hashanah days, it is a must.
Thank you Zion, as always your guidance is appriciated.
