Pinchas 44 – 46

In the world of Tikkun, the continuation of the soul’s correction is important. The son should respect his father in order to connect the line of Tikkun in the family line.

Even though mixing spiritual lines of correction is not allowed in the Torah, there are certain situations where we need to cross lines. One example is in the process called יבום ‘Yibum’. When a person dies before having children, his brother needs to marry his brother’s widow in order to bring children in the correction line of his brother. If he doesn’t do it, the soul of the brother may lose its path of tikkun.

If the living brother does not want to marry that woman, then he needs to follow a ceremony that releases (חליצה, ‘Chalitzah’) his brother’s soul from this line and continues in another.

Some of the sages forbid ‘Yibum’ because it could bring out the physical desire that will corrupt the spiritual process that is the purpose for the Yibum and reincarnation.
