Zohar Beha’alotcha

Exodus 30:7
“וְהִקְטִיר עָלָיו אַהֲרֹן, קְטֹרֶת סַמִּים; בַּבֹּקֶר בַּבֹּקֶר, בְּהֵיטִיבוֹ אֶת-הַנֵּרֹת–יַקְטִירֶנָּה”
“And Aaron shall burn fragrant incense on it. Every morning when he dresses the lamps he shall burn it,”

Exodus 30:8
“וּבְהַעֲלֹת אַהֲרֹן אֶת-הַנֵּרֹת בֵּין הָעַרְבַּיִם, יַקְטִירֶנָּה–קְטֹרֶת תָּמִיד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה, לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם.”
“and when Aaron sets up the lamps at twilight, he shall burn it, a regular incense offering before YHVH throughout your generations.”

The first verse above instructs Aaron to burn the incense when he prepares the candles of the Menorah in the morning.

The second verse instructs Aaron to burn the incense when he lights up the candle at twilight time.

The preparation of the oil in the Menorah and the burning of the incense come together and the Zohar gives it great significance.
The oil and incense are the aspects of Chokmah and Binah.

In the morning, the priest cleans and prepares the candles that burn throughout the night. This process is the aspect of preparing the vessel for the Light. At night, the priest lights the candles and makes the unification of Chokmah and Binah. The burning of incense at that time made sure no negativity interfered with the high spiritual process and connection.

The Zohar explains that the preparation of the candles is equal to the process of lighting the Menora.

One of the things we learn from this study is that the process of preparing the vessel is as high as the light that comes into it. Without a proper preparation of the vessel we can not receive the light we want. Our goals and desires are like vessels waiting for the light to empower and bring fulfilment.
It is important to define our desires with purity and good intention. Every little detail should be thought out. Remove all aspects of negativity from it and meditate on the desired light needed for fulfilment.

Tools for preparing our vessel for a great Light (there are many others but these are good to use to support all purposes).
