Zohar Vayetze

Genesis 28:10
“וַיֵּצֵא יַעֲקֹב, מִבְּאֵר שָׁבַע; וַיֵּלֶךְ, חָרָנָה”
“Jacob went out of Beersheba and went toward Haran.”

Once Jacob achieved high spiritual level he had to go through a test in order to have control over the left column. Only when a righteous passes a test he is loved by the Holy One, blessed be He.

Leaving Beersheba is the aspect of going out of the right and going to Haran is the aspect of connecting to the left column, where the challenges are.
Abraham experienced famine and went down to Egypt, which was the biggest and richest civilization of that time. Pharaoh was fond of Sarah and wanted her. Both of them passed the test and went back to their homeland with great rewards.

Isaac also went to Abimelech the king of the Philistines. He and Rebekah faced challenges but they came out pure.

Jacob is now going to Haran and as we know he served his uncle, Laban, for 20 years. He could stay strong with his faith and Laban couldn’t corrupt him. He left with two wives and wealth. He also received the name Israel.

Lessons:
We see that the patriarchs and the matriarchs went though big tests to make them spiritual giants.
God gives us challenges in life to make us better. Every situation or event is an opportunity to earn greater Light.
