Zohar Vayeshev

The Zohar deals with the ‘complaint’ of most people. Why bad things happen? and bring the following quotes from Job, who we know as one who went through great sufferings in his life but didn’t lose his faith.
Job 34:10
“ לָכֵן, אַנְשֵׁי לֵבָב– שִׁמְעוּ-לִי:
חָלִלָה לָאֵל מֵרֶשַׁע; וְשַׁדַּי מֵעָוֶל.”
“”Therefore, listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to do wrong.”

Job 34:11
“כִּי פֹעַל אָדָם, יְשַׁלֶּם-לוֹ; וּכְאֹרַח אִישׁ, יַמְצִאֶנּוּ”
“For according to the work of a man he will repay him, and according to his ways he will make it befall him.”

The world was created with the force of judgment, that could destroy the world but God added the aspect of mercy to delay the judgment from taking immediate effect.
Mercy is expressed in the aspect of time (brought to us in the second Tzimtzum) and it allows us to correct any action that drew judgment on us.
The Zohar explains that when a tzadik suffers from judgment it is because God helps him elevate his soul by breaking his ‘body’. The body is everything that connects him to the corporeal world. When the body weakened, the soul can take control over it and gets stronger. Then the tzadik can experience greater closeness to the Light.

The aspects of judgement and mercy help create a balanced system and a process that help our souls grow in the righteous path.
We may not accept the pain but we should always know that there is a reason for everything that happens to us.
