Zohar Vayakhel
Proverbs 30:4
“מִי עָלָה-שָׁמַיִם וַיֵּרַד, מִי אָסַף-רוּחַ בְּחָפְנָיו מִי צָרַר-מַיִם בַּשִּׂמְלָה מִי, הֵקִים כָּל-אַפְסֵי-אָרֶץ: מַה-שְּׁמוֹ וּמַה-שֶּׁם-בְּנוֹ, כִּי תֵדָע.”
“Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know!”
The Zohar reveals that this verse is about the power of Elijah.
“Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Explained in DZ 2386. “Who has gathered the wind in His fists?” refers to the miracle of restoring the life of a child of a widow that gave him room and food. (1 Kings 17:17-24) .
“Who has wrapped the waters” story below.
“His garment” (2 Kings 2:8), Elijah’s garment (mantle) had special power and he used it to divide the water and cross the river on dry land.
God sent Elijah to rebuke king Ahab and the people because of their idol worship that caused a serious drought in the land of Israel.
Water is life and when the people are disconnected from the Light, the life force doesn’t come to the world and the outcome is drought and or any other kind of corruption in nature. In the Shema Israel prayer (Deuteronomy 11:14) God warns us to follow his system otherwise we’ll experience problems in the material world. This is not a punishment. It’s a simple cause and effect.
King Ahab married Jezebel, the daughter of the Sidonia’s king. She brought with her the practice of idol worshipping. Jezebel killed God’s prophets except Elijah and 100 others that were hidden in caves. This situation angered God (the effect of the cause) and Elijah went to king Ahab asking to gather the people and the prophets of idol worship.
One of the troubling issues was that the people were still going to the Holy Temple while at the same time worship the ‘Baal’ that was the idol god of Jezebel. That dual worship created a situation that the pure Light the people drew in the Holy Temple went to the other side when they served the Baal. This was a difficult situation that brought negative outcomes on them. We know that Elijah is Pinchas that stopped the plague that spread in the camp of Israel because of the corrupted unification of Zimri and Cozbi that drained the Light from the Israelites and caused a plague that killed 24,000 people.(Portion of Balak Numbers 25:6-9).
Elijah wanted to demonstrate the power of God and he challenged the Baal worshippers to bring bull offerings on the altars without setting fire to see whose offering will be accepted by God.
The prophets of the Baal were calling the idol God all morning but nothing happened. Elijah made fun of them telling them to scream louder to the Baal, saying “maybe he is still sleeping”. They cried loudly but nothing happened.
In the early afternoon, Elijah asked them to come to him. He made a trench around the altar and asked them to pour water on the altar and also fill the trench around the altar with water. Normally water would block the fire from consuming his offering. He let them pour water several times to remove doubts from what about to happen.
He called on God and fire came down from heaven, consumed the offering and the water around.
The main lesson is not to follow different spiritual versions, even if they give us comfort and pleasures. The true spiritual work is not easy because only through efforts we form a proper vessel to receive the Light we earned.
DO NOT follow any teacher that gives you a ‘modern’ and easy to follow version of Kabbalah. Jesus was NOT a kabbalist even if there are some individuals that try to push this unbased idea. It may be a smart way to attract Christians to classrooms for greater income. A person who was born into a different religion and feels that his soul was awakened to Kabbalah, has a good chance to connect his soul to its roots in the Torah by opening a new page, following Zohar and Torah laws. This is the aspect of the gathering of Israelites from all corners of the world. We should return to the true Torah and merit the third Holy Temple.
If you are/were Christian studying Kabbalah then it’s okay to keep the moral teaching that are based on the Torah but the faith must be in YHVH and the Tree of Life system, the pure teaching of Zohar and Kabbalah. All other options are like screaming to sleeping idols.
Please feel free to ask questions. We all need strong and faithful souls to draw greater Light to the world.
