Deuteronomy 24:5
“When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army nor be charged with any duty; he shall be free at home one year and shall give happiness to his wife whom he has taken.”
It’s a precept for the groom to make his bride happy during the first year. A bride state is for one year.
The Malchut is also called ‘year’. The Zohar connects year and 12 months to a special ‘sea’ (a pool) that King Solomon built for water used during the services of the priests (1 Kings 7:23-26). It was made out of copper, standing on top of 12 bulls. ‘Sea; is the aspect of Malchut were the light is received.
The number 12 refers to Chokmah, Binah, Zeir Anpin and Malchut. Each of the four have three columns to make total of 12. For that reason, the groom needs to act as on the spiritual level and make a strong connection with his bride by making her happy for 12 months.
Genesis 28:11
“He came to the place and spent the night there, because the sun had set; and he took from the stones of the place and put it under his head, and lay down in that place.”
Jacob took 12 stones to connect to the Shechina. On that spot he had the dream with the angels, connecting upper and lower levels.
