60. בֵּין כָּךְ הֲרֵי דָּג גָּדוֹל הִזְדַּמֵּן אֵלָיו וְאָמַר, רוֹעֶה הַנֶּאֱמָן, (שם כד) אֵיתָן מוֹשָׁבֶךָ וְשִׂים בַּסֶּלַע קִנֶּךָ. תַּנְיָא שֶׁמְּסַיֵּעַ לְךָ, שֶׁהֲרֵי דָּגִים בְּסֶלַע הַקֵּן שֶׁלָּהֶם, אֵיתָן בְּהִפּוּךְ – תַּנְיָא. אֵיתָנִים בְּהִפּוּךְ אוֹתִיּוֹת – תַּנָּאִים. הִשָּׁמֵר מֵהֶם, שֶׁהֲרֵי אַתָּה כְּבַד פֶּה וּכְבַד לָשׁוֹן, וּמִי שֶׁרוֹצֶה לְהַחֲזִיק בַּסֶּלַע שֶׁל דְּגֵי הַיָּם, שֶׁל בַּעֲלֵי הַמִּשְׁנָה, שֶׁהֵם תַּנָּאִים, צָרִיךְ לִהְיוֹת תַּקִּיף, לָשׁוֹן מְחֻדֶּדֶת חֲרִיפָה, לִנְקֹב עַד שֶׁמַּגִּיעָה לַתְּהוֹם הַגְּדוֹלָה שֶׁשָּׁם.
61. כִּי עוֹד חָזוֹן לַמּוֹעֵד וְיָפֵחַ לַקֵּץ וְלֹא יְכַזֵּב (חבקוק ב). וּפֵרְשׁוּהָ שֶׁפָּסוּק זֶה נוֹקֵב וְיוֹרֵד עַד תְּהוֹם רַבָּה. מִיהוּ שֶׁיּוֹרֵד לִתְהוֹם רַבָּה לִמְצֹא זְמַן זֶה? אֶלָּא אַתָּה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בְּךָ (תהלים לו) צִדְקָתְךָ כְּהַרְרֵי אֵל מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ תְּהוֹם רַבָּה. כַּמָּה בַּעֲלֵי מִשְׁנָה שֶׁרָצוּ לָרֶדֶת לְעֹמֶק הַהֲלָכָה לִמְצֹא שָׁם אֶת קֵץ הַגְּאֻלָּה, וְיָרְדוּ שָׁם וְלֹא עָלוּ. וְאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁלְּשׁוֹנָם הָיְתָה כְּפַטִּישׁ יְפוֹצֵץ סֶלַע, חָלַשׁ הַפַּטִּישׁ שֶׁלָּהֶם לִנְקֹב בְּאוֹתוֹ סֶלַע. וּמִי שֶׁנֶּקֶב שֶׁלּוֹ בְּאוֹתוֹ סֶלַע בְּלֹא רְשׁוּת, בָּא נָחָשׁ לִנְשֹׁךְ אוֹתוֹ. וְיֵשׁ אֲחֵרִים שֶׁנָּקְבוּ אוֹתוֹ, עַד שֶׁהִגִּיעוּ לִתְהוֹם רַבָּה, וְלֹא עָלוּ מִשָּׁם.

A big fish, Rav Hamnuna Saba, join the study and said,
Numbers 24:21
“אֵיתָן מוֹשָׁבֶךָ וְשִׂים בַּסֶּלַע קִנֶּךָ”
“Your dwelling place is strong, And your nest is set in a rock.”
The word ‘strong’ ‘איתן’ refers to the Tannaim (great sages on the level as Rabbi Shimon) are also fish that help Moses to elevate the Shechina when she is in exile. Their nest is in the rock, which is the aspect of Malchut. Rav Hamnuna suggest to Moses to protect himself from the fish, Tannaim, in the rock because Moses is ‘slow speech and slow tongue’ (Exodus 4:10). Whoever wish to attack the sea fish that are in the rock, Tannaim, should be strong with sharp tongue that could penetrate the great abyss that’s in there.

Habakkuk 2:3
“כִּי עוֹד חָזוֹן לַמּוֹעֵד וְיָפֵחַ לַקֵּץ וְלֹא יְכַזֵּב אִם יִתְמַהְמָהּ חַכֵּה לוֹ כִּי בֹא יָבֹא לֹא יְאַחֵר.”
“”For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.”
The Zohar explains that this verse goes down to the great abyss to find the time of ‘the end’, which is the time of the Final Redemption.
Psalms 36:7
“צִדְקָתְךָ כְּהַרְרֵי אֵל מִשְׁפָּטֶךָ תְּהוֹם רַבָּה אָדָם וּבְהֵמָה תוֹשִׁיעַ יְהוָה.”
“Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great abyss. O YHVH, You preserve man and beast.”
The ‘great abyss’ is the depth that is below the rock. The Zohar explains in Zohar Vayechi #444-#448 that the rock is the stone that Jacob placed under his head when he found the place where God started the creation of the world. This stone is the ‘drinking stone’ that was the foundation of the world.
Many tried to go down into the depth of this abyss to find the end but didn’t come back.
Moses wasn’t allowed to connect to the ‘rock’ inside the land of Israel. In my opinion the Zohar reveals here that Moses ‘attacked’ the rock (Numbers 20:11) to get the support of the righteous and save the people but he didn’t have permission and was punished for it.
