Zohar lech Lecha
#54
Praised is the person that study and walk the ways of the Holy One Blessed be He in this world. The wicked are stubborn and stick to their wickedness even when they are about to leave the world. Even though the wicked sees the righteous people, they don’t want to learn from them.
#55
The righteous need to hold the wicked and not let him go because a free wicked person may bring destruction to the world.
#56
We study this from Elisha that rejected Gehazi, his assistant. Gehazi was smart and scholar but with a lot of greed and desire for the self. Elisha kept him close to him to protect him from going bad but Gehazi failed, lied to his master and behave bad and with greed. Elisha rejected him and cursed him and his descendent with leprosy. Gehazi and his sons made other people to go the wrong path.
Another example is when Abraham and Lot were together, Lot was good but when they got separated, Lot chose and moved to the better piece of land, which was adjacent to Sodom. That city was full of wicked people that practice evil behavior and everything against the ways of YHVH. Abraham negotiated with God and could save his nephew from the destruction of Sodom.
Lesson: Helping people connect to the Torah, study and follow its teachings give us great merits. Never judge or reject ‘lost’ people even if they object us. We should give good example with our behavior, keep ‘feeding’ them information and pray for them. Even if we don’t see positive results, we most probably stop them from going really bad and that is good for the world.
Some people that were told that they have some limited time to live go immediately to fill their ‘bucket list’ or spend time and money in ‘Las Vegas’ (What Happens there, Stays there). They have no faith in their soul because they see death as end of existence.
People with terminal diseases should be encouraged to confess their sins and do as much repentance as they can. Ask forgiveness from those they hurt and do Tzedakah. Even if they didn’t have faith in God and did a lot of ‘mistakes’, they can still see the Garden of Eden if they repent. They will have to go through the cleansing process of ‘hell’ but then go higher to a better resting place. It is better to get to Garden of Eden late than never.
