Zohar Lech Lecha
#63
Everything God is doing comes from concealed wisdom. God commanded Abram “Lech Lecha” because he wasn’t yet close to him. Abram was send to a place where he can come closer to the Holy One Blessed be He. First step is always to come closer to the Holy One Blessed be He.
#64
Abraham couldn’t connect to YHVH before entering the Land of Israel. It’s the place where he can build his vessel to be ready for the higher level connection.
The Zohar quotes King David’s conversation with God. After the death of King Saul, the path for the kingdom was open for King David that was anointed much earlier.
2 Samuel 2:1
“After this David inquired of YHVH, “Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?” And YHVH said to him, “Go up.” David said, “To which shall I go up?” And he said, “To Hebron.”
King David asked for God’s permission to go to one of the cities of Judah’s tribe to lead the people.
Judah’s tribe was the biggest tribe and settled around the city of Jerusalem. King David saw it as the best place to lead the kingdom but God told him to go up, meaning to act as a king but to go first to Hebron חברון.
Hebron is where the patriarchs are buried and the name of the city has the root ‘חבר’, ‘connect’. King David ruled in Hebron for over seven years before moving forward.
Lesson:
Our spiritual growth process takes us through different phases. We may not like them but they are important for us to grow before moving forward. The spiritual work is wherever we go, even if we stay a short time in one place. When you are ‘connected’ you’ll know when the next step in your life is taking place. Many people get stuck in one place for comfort and that is not always good to say the least. Most of the times the move that is expected from us is on a spiritual level. We need to grow spiritually and do more, study more and reveal greater light in our lives and those around us. Don’t get stuck in the routine. Do more and become a great king over your spiritual kingdom.
