Zohar Acharei Mot
#58
Rabbi Yeisa, Rabbi Hizkiah and their friends saw that the world was in need of rain. They went to Rabbi Shimon and found him walking with his son, Rabbi Elazar to see his father in-law, Rabbi Pinchas ben Yair.
When Rabbi Shimon saw them he said;
Psalms 133:1
“A Song of Ascents, of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!”
#59
‘and they (the Cherubim) were facing one to his brother” (Exodus 25:20) . ‘Brothers’ here is the aspect of unity of Male, Zeir Anpin and Female, Malchut. When they face each other, they have unity and the aspect of “how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity”. When the male turns his face from the female, the world, Malchut have no light.
Proverbs 13:23
“and there’s one destroyed without justice.” The word נִסְפֶּה is translated here as ‘destroyed’ but the meaning could be any type of ‘end’ that comes from chaos and disasters.
Zeir Anpin is called ‘Justice’ and without justice, there’s no light and chaos, darkness spread. In such state anything negative can happen.
Psalms 89:15
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You.”
Righteousness is Malchut and ‘justice’ is Zeir Anpin. They should be together, ‘facing’ each other because without their unity, the distance from the Light grows and the world suffers.
#60
Rabbi Shimon tells his friends that Zeir Anpin is not with Malchut and this is the reason why there’s no rain. He told them to go back because he saw that later on that day, the Light will face Malchut and there’ll be plenty of rain in the world. If you also came to study Torah with me, he said, then please sit with me.
They sent one of them to deliver the message about the rain to those who are waiting for it and sat to study with Rabbi Shimon.
