Zohar Shemot
#60
Rabbi Aba quotes this verse and say; woe to the people that don’t follow the ways of God properly.
Songs 4:8
“אִתִּי מִלְּבָנוֹן כַּלָּה אִתִּי מִלְּבָנוֹן תָּבוֹאִי תָּשׁוּרִי מֵרֹאשׁ אֲמָנָה מֵרֹאשׁ שְׂנִיר וְחֶרְמוֹן מִמְּעֹנוֹת אֲרָיוֹת מֵהַרְרֵי נְמֵרִים”
“Come with me from Lebanon, my bride, May you come with me from Lebanon. Journey down from the summit of Amana, From the summit of Senir and Hermon, From the dens of lions, From the mountains of leopards.”
‘Lebanon’ ‘לבנון’ is another name for the Holy Temple. It is called so because as the sages explain, the root word is ‘לבן’, ‘white’ to tell us that the Holy Temple purifies/’whitens’ us from our sins.
The ‘Bride’ is the Shechina.
‘Come with me from Lebanon’ – The initials in Hebrew (I heard from Rabbi Meir Eliyahu Shlita) ‘אמת’, ‘Truth’ that is the aspect of Torah.
‘From the summit of Senir and Hermon’ is the aspect of Mount Sinai (Zohar Shemot #16)
‘the dens of lions’, ‘the mountains of leopards’ are aspects of the other side that rejected the Torah.
Rabbi Yitzchak says that there is a voice that comes out of Mount Sinai everyday and announce ‘woe to the people that disregard the ways of the Torah and disrespect it’.
Rabbi Yehuda says that those who are close to the Torah and ‘purchase’ good deed, earn a whole world, which is this world and the world to come. Both are considered ‘a whole’ because they depend on each other. Those who disregard the Torah and don’t do positive actions lose both worlds.
Rabbi Yehuda use the word ‘purchase’ to teach us that there is always a ‘pay’ in doing good. We need to make efforts and give from our energy in order to ‘earn’ the light that the action holds in it.
Those who are in the middle, meaning doing some good actions, inherit a world on a level that is according to their ‘earnings’ in this world.
Lesson;
Every study of Torah helps us reveal light that goes to our account if we don’t waste it or lose it to the other-side. Every word is a like a brick in the construction of our future in this world and the world to come. Every day we are getting closer to the point of moving from this world to the next. It would be wise to build the future home large, comfortable and on strong foundations. After all, the future one is forever.
