Zohar Shemini
#88
Proverbs 29:4
“The king gives stability to the land by justice, But a man who takes bribes destroy it.”
The ‘King’ is the Holy One Blessed be He. ‘Justice’ is the aspect of the center column, Jacob that unifies the patriarchs Abraham on the Right and Isaac on the Left together in the center column that brings balance in the Tree of Life, as justice does in the world.
‘A man who takes bribes’ is Esau that asks questions about Terumot (donations) and how to give tithe but doesn’t do it himself. Giving tithe and donations is a connection from Malchut to the Right column, but Esau was disconnected from it. He was only Left and judgment that brings the aspect of ‘destroy it (Malchut)’
Proverbs 13:23
“Much food is in the tillage of the poor, but there is that is swept away without justice.”
‘swept away without justice’ is about those who are only on the Left, judgments.
#89
King David was a man of Teruma with the aspect of Right and mercy. While Esau was left of Malchut, King David was left with chassadim. He was a chariot for Malchut and made a strong foundation for us to draw light into our vessels.
Isaiah 55:3
“Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David.”
Lessons;
Those who take without giving connect to the Left and bring judgments on themselves. Esau ended dead by judgment. The Talmud tells us that when Jacob’s children brought him to be buried in the Cave of the Machpelah, Esau demanded to have his place in the cave even though he sold the rights of the firstborn to Jacob. Chushim the son of Dan (‘Dan’ means judgment) saw the disrespect and selfishness of Esau toward his grandfather and beheaded Esau.
The second lesson is about why justice is considered center column when justice requires a court and judgment by a judge?
Leviticus 18:4
“’You are to perform My judgments and keep My statutes, to live in accord with them; I am YHVH your God.”
“So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, by which a man may live if he does them; I am YHVH.
The world of Malchut is a world of judgment and if we live by the laws of the Torah we connect to the center column, Zeir Anpin that is balance and continuous flow of life force to this world.
If we ‘leave’ the laws(Torah)/center we fall to the Left side and in order to go back to the center we go through the process of ‘justice’ that raises judgments to ‘pay’ the left side and allow us to go back to the center.
The ‘court’ is automatic and built in the system of cause and effect. The ‘punishment/correction’ is the decision of the court on how we pay to go back to balance, the path of righteousness and life.
