Zohar Metzora
#58
1 Samuel 16:12
“So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And YHVH said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is he.”
King David “was ruddy with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance.” He was from the Left line of Binah that shines in Malchut. Because his soul was connected to the holiness of God, he was handsome with beautiful eyes. Esau was impure from the ‘waste of Gold’ that is the Klipot at the end of the Left line.
Jacob was considered as firstborn because of the consciousness of his father at the time of unification. Isaac was meditating to connect to the Tree of Life, which is Zeir Anpin and the Center line of the Tree of Life. The drop of Esau came from Isaac’s consciousness but from the point of the Tree where the holiness ends, and the Klipot begin. From these aspects, Jacob was first and Esau second.
In the prophecy delivered by the prophet Obadiah, God describes Edom, the nation of Esau, as small and despised.
Obadiah 1:2
“Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You are greatly despised.”

Rabbi Yehuda says the Holy One Blessed be He is called ‘First.’ Esau was called ‘the first’ as the first to come out as the verse says “the first came forth red.”
Isaiah 44:6
“Thus says YHVH, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, YHVH of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.”
Isaiah 41:27
“First to Zion, ‘Behold, here they are.’ And to Jerusalem, ‘I will give a messenger of good news.’”
Zion is Yessod of Malchut and the spiritual connection to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem that is in the land of Israel, and from there to the entire world. In the future, the Holy One, who is the ‘First,’ will come to Zion and rid the Klipot that is at the end of the center line, allowing the flow of Light to Jerusalem, Malchut, and build the Holy Temple to restore the pure connection without the Klipot.
Jeremiah 17:12
“A glorious throne on high from the first is the place of our sanctuary.”
Lesson;
King David was from the Left as Esau was, but the big difference between them was that King David was connected to the Torah and YHVH while Esau was busy with his selfish desires that came from the Klipot.
King David was always fighting ‘Klipot’ in his life and only by his adherence to the ways of God, and appreciation to the Light that God gave him, he was able to overcome all his challenges.
The 150 Psalms are full of King David’s praises to YHVH and here are just two examples.
Psalms 119:92
“If Your law (Torah) had not been my delight, Then I would have perished in my affliction.”
Psalms 94:17
“If YHVH had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt with Duma (The angel of the lower world).”
Before his death, King David gives his best advice to his son Solomon that was about to inherit the kingdom;
1 Chronicles 28:9
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for YHVH searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”
We should stay on the righteous path of studying Torah and Zohar with a whole heart, and he will help us find him.
