Zohar Vaetchanan

#161
Zechariah 14:17,18
“And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, YHVH of hosts, there will be no rain on them.”
“If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then the plague won’t be on them. The plague from YHVH will smite the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Sukkot.”

The Zohar asks why Egypt won’t experience the plague of no rain when it is vital for life, and explains that Egypt (lower level of Malchut) gets their water from the Nile but they will experience other types of judgment. The other nations depends on the rain that comes from above for nourishments.

#162
Deuteronomy 11:10,11
“For the land that you are entering to take possession of it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated it, like a garden of vegetables.”
“But the land into which you are about to cross to possess it, a land of hills and valleys, drinks water from the rain of heaven,”

The Holy Land that the Israelites are about to enter receives its nourishment from heavens above. Egypt receives from the lower water that comes when the Nile river overflows and irrigate their land.
The Israelites with their connection to the Torah, draw nourishment from heavens. When they are not connected then they block the nourishments from coming to them and the entire world.

Lesson;
The word ‘rain’ in Hebrew ‘גשם’ is the root word for words related to ‘material’, ‘corporeal’, ‘physical’, etc.
The rain represents pure light coming from above and brings life force to this world. When we follow the Torah we connect to the source of nourishment that is the ‘river’ that comes from the Garden of Eden and flows to this world as Light that manifests in the material, corporeal level.
The following verses are from the portion of Bechukotai that list for us the blessings that come on us when following the Torah. It the same portion we also read about the terrible curses that would come on us if we are not.
Leviticus 26:3,4
““If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them,”
“then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land
shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.”

The same promise also found in the Shema Israel prayer in the verses from Deuteronomy 11:13,14
““And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love YHVH your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,”
“that He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.”

The Light and blessings of the Holy One Blessed be He is everywhere. All we need is to connect to it properly with studies, positive actions and Tzedakah that can transform and cancel our sins and iniquities.

As we read in the study above, Egypt that represents the other-side in Malchut is all about the materials and they get nourishment from the overflow of the Nile river. Egypt may have a source of water but they suffer from other types of judgments.
Many have the false belief that if they have access to material wealth then they are ‘blessed’ but as the Zohar explains, it doesn’t guarantee that wealth in this world stops judgments. They may enjoy the ‘material’ aspects of life but without connection to the Torah that can be achieved also by supporting channels of Light, they experience judgments in the form of health, family, relationships and other kinds of worries that take away peace and the true essence of blessings from their lives.

Israelites that set their priorities to act with purity and study of Torah, draw ‘rain’ of blessings into their lives and the world around them.
Those who are blessed with money and very busy with their business should still make some minimal time to study Torah (Daily Zohar for example) and share their blessings (Tithe, Tzedakah) to support the spread of Light in the world. The Torah tells us that Zebulun was a merchant and Issachar was a Torah scholar. They had a deal that Zebulun would work and support Issachar and share the Light of his studies. This comes from the words of Moses;
Deuteronomy 33:18
“And of Zebulun, he said, “Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, and Issachar, in your tents.”
Zebulun was going out on business and Issachar was considered as studying in his tent because Zebulun supported him.

We can draw the ‘rain’ of blessings on us by supporting the continuous flow of light to the world.
I’m adding this teaching before Rosh Hashanah because it is an important principle to follow and commit to for the coming year. Share your tithe and give Tzedakah to ALL channels of Light that benefit you. That would guarantee that you receive from the light they are spreading. Give to your synagogue, teachers, and organizations that are known for their positive actions to bring more light to the world, even if you don’t benefit directly, they do bring light to the world that benefits you.

On Rosh Hashanah, everyone is judged, the living in this world and the souls that already in heaven. Tzadikim are elevated further because many keep studying from their writings and teachings. Others benefit when their descendants or other people do positive actions in their names. It is good to give Tzedakah for their soul elevation and have their support.
You can also light a virtual candle for their names on UnityZohar.com and on the Tzadikim app/website.

Proverbs 3:18 “She is (the Torah) a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who support her are called blessed.”
‘Those who support her’ are those who go beyond the study and help in spreading its Light. They will have greater merit in the world to come. The secret in וְתֹמְכֶיהָ מְאֻשָּׁר, equal תומך מראש יה. It means that the support comes from the upper levels of Chokmah, Binah and Da’at.
