Zohar Vaetchanan

#165
Daniel the prophet fell on his face when he received the prophecy, but Moses was standing in a direct connection with the supernal light when he received messages and prophecies from God. Other prophets experienced a disconnection from this world and had a physical impact when they were exposed to the higher light. It changed the light on their face because they were not on that level like Moses.

Exodus 33:11
“Thus YHVH used to speak to Moses, face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.”

Moses was on the level of Zeir Anpin and always in control. When he ascended to talk to God ‘face to face’ and when he was down with the people. The Torah describes Moses talking to God as a ‘man speaks to his friend’ then it says ‘Moses returned to the camp’ to tell us that he moved easily between levels.
The last part of the verse says, ‘his servant, Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent’. It tells us that Joshua was drawing from the Holy Spirit that was in the tent of Moses.
1 Samuel 3:1
“Now the boy Samuel was ministering to YHVH before Eli. And word from YHVH was rare in those days; visions were infrequent.”
Samuel was dedicated by his mother to the priesthood. He grew up by the side of Eli, the priest and absorbed the holiness of the Tabernacle in Shiloh where he served. God revealed himself to Samuel and made him a prophet. As servants of the Holy, Joshua, and Samuel merited to have God revealed to them.

When Joshua was with Moses, he studied and drew from Moses’s light and strength in the ‘tent’, which is the aspect of Malchut. After the death of Moses, we read; Joshua 5:14
“And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of YHVH. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?””

The disconnection of Joshua from Moses ‘lowered’ his state and when a messenger from YHVH visited him, Joshua fell on his face because he didn’t have the support of Moses.

Lesson;
Serving and supporting the ‘holy’ means connection to the light that is revealed through that specific channel.
Joshua served Moses and Samuel served Eli the high priest in the Holy Tabernacle. The Talmud tells us that Samuel was considered as Moses and Aaron together.
Psalms 99:6
“Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also was among those who called upon his name. They called to YHVH, and he answered them.”
Moses was the prophet on the highest level but Samuel dedicated his life unconditionally for the children of Israel and for that he achieved this high level of service and honor. He was the one that anointed King David to be a king over Israel and gave him the construction plans for the first Holy Temple.
