Tikkun 69 – 39

The three mother letters that represent the elements of Air, Water and Fire have the Nikkud (Vowels) of

Kamatz – Right Column, Water
Cholam – Central Column, Air
Sheva – Left Column, Fire.

Psalms 29:4 “ קוֹל-יְהוָה בַּכֹּחַ” “The voice of YHVH is powerful ”
When the right and the left hands come together they have 28 bone segments, as the numerical value of כח, ‘power’. The power of action from the right and left comes from the ‘voice’ of God.

When the central column is connected with the air, the voice that is formed is “קוֹל יְהוָה, בֶּהָדָר ”, “the voice of YHVH is full of majesty. ”

The Hebrew letters are empty vessels until we add the Nikkud (vowels) to them. This action brings the light into the vessel, gives it a voice and activates a potential power that exists in the vessel.

The Torah, as it is written in the Torah Scroll, includes no vowels. (See image below).

When the reader reads from the Torah, he brings life to the letters by adding the cantillations and the Nikkud tones and sound to bring down the Light to our level.

From the ‘face’ of Adam Kadmon, the lights from the ear, nose and mouth came together (World of ‘Akudim’) as Ten Sefirot and were revealed with the טעמים נקודות תגים אותיות, Cantillations (Te’amim), Nikkud, Tags (Tagin) (the lines at the top of the letters) and Letters (Otiyot).

To create the world of Tikkun and the process of earning, the light that was originally revealed with the letters went back up and left us with empty vessels and the tags. The Nikkud and the Te’amim are higher lights that are not revealed until the Torah is read on Shabbat.

The parchment is the aspect of the light of the Endless. The letters of the Torah are vessels and each one should be surrounded with space.

If one letter is not proper or connected to another, the Torah is voided and cannot be a channel of light. It is not because the reader cannot identify the letters or read the actual words but because the letters of the Torah are vessels for specific lights. If the vessel has different form so is the light that comes to it.

Listening to the torah reading is the aspect of listening to the voice of God. The reader should prepare himself before Shabbat for the duty and the great responsibility he carries for the whole congregation. It is not an easy reading job because there are no vowels in the Torah. The reader should assign a person to correct him, in case he misses on proper pronunciations, especially if it changes the meaning of the word.

It is important for everyone to follow the Torah reading silently. Talking while or between the seven steps of readings take away from the connection to the life energy. Like at the time of Creation, on Shabbat, the light comes to us from the mouth of God through the letters of the Torah.
