 infoRabbi Nachman of Horodenka was a Hasidic leader. At first, Rabbi Nachman was among the Talmidei Chachamim who gathered to study Torah in Brody. After experiencing a dream which he interpreted as a signal for him to go to the Baal Shem Tov, Rabbi Nachman became a close disciple and one of the first supporters of the latter. After marrying off his son to the granddaughter of the Baal Shem Tov, he moved to the Land of Israel, arriving at the port of Haifa in 1764. At first he lived in Safed, and afterward he settled in Tiberias. He died in Tiberias in June, 1765, and was buried in Tiberias. Rabbi Nachman was a seventh-generation lineal descendant of Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel. His grandson was Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. May the merit of the tzadik Rabbi Nachman of Horodenka protect us all. Amen

 text<h3 style="text-align:right">קורות חייו</h3> נולד בסביבות שנת ה'ת"מ בעיר זולקובה שבגליציה לפי אחת המסורות, לר' יצחק, שהיה ממשפחה המיוחסת כשישה דורות למהר"ל מפראג. כשהתבגר פנה ללמוד ב"קלויז" בעיר ברודי והתיידד עם רבי נחמן מקוסוב ורבי מנחם מנדל מבאר. עסק בתורה בפרישות ובסיגופים. אחרי נישואיו התקרב לבעל שם טוב בהשפעת גיסו רבי חיים מהורדנקא. ודרכיו בעבודת השם עברו מפנה עקב תורת הבעש"ט. לאחר פטירת אשתו הראשונה התחתן בנישואים שניים עם אחות ר' יצחק מדרובהיטש. מספרים שהשידוך שנעשה בעצתו ויוזמתו של הבעש"ט כלל סיכום בינו לר' נחמן, שהבן של רבי נחמן יתחתן עם בתה של אדל בת הבעש"ט לכשיוולדו. ולימים כך נעשה שמחה בן נחמן נישא לפיגה בת אדל ומהם נולד רבי נחמן מברסלב על שם סבו. מספרים בקרב החסידים כי אשתו השנייה של ר' נחמן מהורדנקא נפטרה חודש לאחר הלידה. גם סביב מאורע התפרסמו כמה סיפורים המלמדים על מעלתם של ר' נחמן ואשתו. <h3 style="text-align:right">עלייתו הראשונה והשנייה לארץ ישראל</h3> עלה לארץ ישראל בשנים שלפני שנת ה'ת"ק (1740), יחד עם בנו שמשון חיים, אך חזרו לחו"ל בהשפעת חלום שפירשו כרמז לעדיפות דרכו של הבעל שם טוב בעבודת ה' שלא על ידי סגפנות. כמו כן קיימת מסורת לפיה עלה בשנית לא"י אך חזר בטרם הספיק ר' אליעזר רוקח שעלה בעקבותיו כדי לפוגשו בארץ ישראל אך לא עלתה בידו מפני ששוב יצא ר' נחמן אל הגולה. לא ידוע מידע על ר' נחמן בתקופתיו אלה בא"י. על תקופה זו של התעוררות לעלייה לארץ ישראל ועל השפעותיהם של האישים בה בראשית צמחית תנועת החסידות כותב אברהם יערי: "משנת ת"ק (1740) לערך עד שנת פטירתו תק"ך (1760) עלו חסידים רבים לארץ-ישראל, מרבותיו, חבריו, ותלמידיו של הבעש"ט, ומהם שעלו בהשפעתו ובעזרתו, כגון גיסו ר' אברהם גרשון מקיטוב, ר' נחמן מהורודנקה ועוד. מהם שעמדו לעלות; ואף התחילו בהכנות לעליה ויצאו לדרך, אבל לא נסתייע הדבר בידם, כגון הבעש"ט עצמו ותלמידו המובהק ר' יעקב יוסף המגיד מפולנא, שהבעש"ט מסר בידו איגרת-המלצה לגיסו שכבר ישב בארץ. כל העליות הללו היו עליות יחידים וחבורות קטנות, ובין העולים היו רבים שהיו שייכים עוד לחסידים הסגפנים שקדמו לבעש"ט, מסוג חסידי קלויז בראד, ומהם שעמדו בשני המחנות, היו תחילה בחוג החסידים הסגפנים והצטרפו לאחר מכן לחוג חסידי הבעש"ט." <h3 style="text-align:right">לאחר חזרתו ל-מז'יבוז'</h3> בשהותו זו בגליציה שימש כגבאי בביתו של הבעל שם טוב, ואף עסק בקירוב תלמידים חדשים לדרך החסידות. היה מצוי מאד במחיצתו של הבע"שט, גם בעת פטירת הבעל שם טוב שהה במז'יבוז' וגם על אירוע זה ישנם מעשיות בקרב החסידים הנקשרים בו. בזמן שהותו שם השתוקק לעלות שוב לארץ ישראל אבל הבעש"ט שכנעו להישאר עמו כדי שילמד ממנו את תורתו, לכן עלה לארץ ישראל רק לאחר פטירות רבו. בלשון החסידים מתואר שלאחר פטירת הבעש"ט היה משתטח מעת לעת על קברו ומבקש רשות לעלות לארץ ישראל, עד אשר קיבל ממנו תשובה שבה לא רק שהרשה לו אלא אף ציווה עליו לעשות כן. <h3 style="text-align:right">עלייתו השלישית לארץ ישראל</h3> באלול תקכ"ד, ערב ראש השנה תקכ"ה (אוקטובר 1764), עלה לארץ ישראל בשלישית, בראש שיירת עולים לצד רבי מנחם מנדל מפרמישלן, זו קבוצת העולים הראשונה המאורגנת של תלמידי הבעש"ט. שיירתם הצטרפה לספינת עולי-רגל שהייתה יוצאת מדי חודש אלול מאיסטנבול שבטורקיה לעבר נמל יפו. מאז שהה בעיר טבריה. רבים מסיעת החסידים שכבר היו בארץ שקדמו בעלייתם ובהשקפותיהם לתלמידי הבעש"ט הצטרפו לסיעתם ודרכם החסידית החדשה של אלה. עם זאת בשל המספר הקטן של העולים בעלייה זו (כ-30 איש מגליציה ועוד כמה עשרות יהודים מטורקיה ומארצות הבלקן שהצטרפו אליהם בקושטא), אין העלייה שלהם נמנית על ידי ההיסטוריונים כעלייה החסידית הראשונה, וכעליה הראשונה נחשבת עליית החסידים בשנת תקל"ז שהיקפה ומשקלה היה גדול במיוחד. טוביה פרשל סבור שיוזם העלייה היה ר' נחמן. וע"פ דברי ר' נחמן עצמו הוא קיבל את ההוראה לכך מהבעש"ט. תיאור מפורט של עלייתם נשתמר בחיבור בשם "גלילות ארץ ישראל" על ידי חכם יהודי מגליציה, רבי שמחה מזאלוזיץ, שפגש אותם על שפך הדנובה והפליג יחד אתם באונייה לקושטא ומשם לארץ ישראל. סיפור מסעותיו הודפס על ידי חתנו, רבי שלמה מדובנא וכונה בשם "אהבת ציון". בכ"ז בתמוז הגיעו אנשי השיירה לחופי קושטא, וכעבור חודשיים בי"ח באלול עלו על האונייה לארץ ישראל. יחד איתם היו באונייה גם עולים ועולי רגל רבים מיהודי טורקיה וארצות הבלקן. בערב ראש השנה תקכ"ה הגיעו לנמל יפו. עולי הרגל הספרדים עזבו את האונייה בדרכם לירושלים בעוד אנשי השיירה החסידים נשארו באונייה במשך החג, ורק בצום גדליה הפליגו לכיוון עכו. בשל הסערה שפקדה את הים הם הגיעו ליעדם רק כעבור תשעה ימים בי"ב בתשרי. בי"ג בתשרי עזבו את עכו ובעזרת חמורים ופרדות הגיעו לטבריה. על הרושם שהייתה לעליית שיירתו עוד בצאתם מהגולה ניתן ללמוד גם מהיחס המתואר כלפי ר' מנחם מנדל מפרמישלן ש"הלכו כל בני העיר לקראתו". כנראה מתוך כבוד לאישיותו ולעלייתו הקרובה לארץ הקודש. לימים יתארח נכדו רבי נחמן מברסלב בחג הסוכות, בעת ניסיונו לעלות לארץ ישראל בשנת תקנ"ט 1798, אצל נכד אחר של רבי נחמן מהורדנקא בשם רבי בנימין, שעל קברו בטבריה מצוין הכיתוב "נכד רבי נחמן מהורודנקא". מאז נהג לומר "כל מקום שאני הולך, אני הולך לארץ ישראל". וכן: "כל העניין שלי זה ארץ ישראל"; "מי שרוצה להיות יהודי, אי אפשר כי אם על ידי ארץ ישראל". הרי לפנינו מורשת משפחתית של מסירות לעלייה ודבקות בארץ ישראל. גם מתקופתו זו לא ידוע הרבה על ר' נחמן מהורדנקא אם כי נשתמר סיפור על התנהגותו ועל אודותיו בפי תושבי טבריה, אשר פורסם על ידי הרב משה קליערס בספרו "טבור הארץ": "ושמעתי מזקנים שבעת שישב פה היה בהצנע לכת. שאשכנזים עדיין לא ישבו אז בטבריא רק ספרדים. והם לא ידעו מגודל קדושתו, רק החזיקוהו לאדם כשר, רק אחר כך נתגלה על ידי סיבה, שבשנה אחת היתה עצירת גשמים עד מאד, וציווה הרה”צ ר”ן הנזכר, שילכו למערת ר’ חייא ובניו להתפלל שמה על הגשמים. וגם הוא הלך עמהם. וציווה להם, שיקחו עמהם בגדי חורף למחסה מזרם וממטר. והיה אז יום חם וצח כעצם השמים לטוהר, הם יצאו מן העיר לילך למערת ר’ חייא ובניו זיע”א ובגדי החורף בידם. ואז עמד בשער העיר שר ושופט העיר, וכראותו שהם הולכים ובגדי חורף בידם, צחק מהם הרבה. ירק בפניהם ואמר, שאם יחזרו להעיר ולא ירד הגשם, ירמוס את הרה”צ הנזכר תחת כפות רגליו. הם הלכו לדרכם למערת ר’ חייא ובניו, ושפכו שיחם נוכח פני ה’, והשמים נתקדרו בעבים וירד גשם שוטף עד מאד, ולולא שהיה להם בגדי החורף, לא יכלו לבוא העירה. וכאשר חזרו העירה המתין להם בשער העיר שר ושופט העיר הנזכר, ולקח את הרה”צ הנ”ל והרכיב אותו על כתפיו ונשאו עד תוך העיר, והעיר טבריא צהלה ושמחה על הגשמי רצון וברכה שירדו, וגם כי נתקדש שמו הגדול ית”ב, וכל הנכרים אמרו מי כמוך באלוקים ומי כעמך ישראל". בספר "עובד אורח", פולנאה תקמ"ח, תואר רבי נחמן כ"צדיק מפורסם בכל קצווי ארץ, הרב החסיד איש אלקים". כיאה לדמות בעלת חשיבות בקרב החסידות ישנם תיאורים על עת פטירתו בשבת:"...ולמד זוהר בשעת יציאת נשמתו, ומת במנחה ויצא למנוחה". <h3 style="text-align:right">מתורותיו הנהגותיו ודברי מעלה שיוחסו לו</h3> דברי תורה בשמו הובאו בספרים "תולדות יעקב יוסף" ו"דגל מחנה אפרים". ר' מנחם מנדל ויז'ניצר ריכז את כל דברי תורתו בקונטרס "מילי דאבות" בראש הספר "תורת חסידים ראשונים". בני ברק תשמ"א. <h3 style="text-align:right">משפחתו</h3> בנו שמחה התחתן עם פייגה בת אדל להם נולד רבי נחמן מברסלב הקרוי על שמו. בנו שמשון חיים עלה עם אביו בקדם עליית החסידים לארץ ישראל והתיישב בטבריה. נכד אחד כנראה בשם בנימין התיישב אף הוא בטבריה, ואצלו התארח ר' נחמן בברסלב בעת ביקורו בארץ ישראל. בבית העלמין העתיק בטבריה קיימת מצבה לר' בנימין הנושאת את הכיתוב נכד ר' נחמן מהורודנקא. רבי נחמן נפטר בב' בתמוז ה'תקכ"ה בקירוב, שנת עלייתו השנייה/שלישית לארץ, או בסמוך לה ונטמן בחלקת תלמידי הבעש"ט בבית העלמין העתיק בטבריה. זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן
 short_textרבי נחמן מהורדנקא, ה'ת"מ (1680) בקירוב, זולקובה - ב' בתמוז ה'תקכ"ה, (1765), טבריה. היה דמות חשובה בדור הראשון של תנועת החסידות והתפתחותה. היה חסיד במובן הוותיק של המילה עוד בטרם נוסדה תנועת החסידות, ואשר נהיה מחשובי תלמידיו הקרובים וחברו של הבעל שם טוב, עד כדי כך שהבעש"ט כינהו כ"נאמן ביתן". מקשרי חיתון של צאצאיהם מפורסם הנכד רבי נחמן מברסלב. היה דמות נודעת בקרב יהדות רוסיה בשל צדיקותו ולפיכך עליותיו לארץ ישראל עשו בקרבם רושם גדול. נודע גם בשל מסירותו לקיום מצוות פדיון שבויים. האגדה החסידית מייחסת לר' נחמן מעלות ומעשי נפלאות רבים.

Al principio, el rabino Nachman estaba entre los talmidei Chachamim que se reunieron para estudiar Torá en Brody. Después de experimentar un sueño que interpretó como una señal para que fuera al Baal Shem Tov, el rabino Nachman se convirtió en un discípulo cercano y uno de los primeros partidarios de este último. Después de casar a su hijo con la nieta del Baal Shem Tov, se mudó a la Tierra de Israel, llegando al puerto de Haifa en 1764. Al principio vivió en Safed, y luego se estableció en Tiberíades. Murió en Tiberíades en junio de 1765 y fue enterrado en Tiberíades. El rabino Nachman era un descendiente lineal de séptima generación del rabino Judah Loew ben Bezalel.
