    • info<h3>Biography</h3> <p><br /> Avrohom Levinson (later Elyashiv) was the son-in-law of the kabbalist, Shlomo Elyashiv, author of the Leshem Shevo V’Achlamah. He was also the father of Yosef Shalom Eliashiv. He studied under the Chofetz Chaim, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Kagan in Raduń Yeshiva and later in Dvinsk.</p> <p>In 1924, he immigrated to Jerusalem along with his father-in-law, his wife Chaya Musha, and young son Yosef Shalom. Following advice from Kagan, he changed his family name from Levinson to that of his father-in-law so the family would have a uniform immigration certificate</p> <p>Rabbinic career</p> <p>In Jerusalem, Elyashiv was granted semicha by Rabbi Avraham Isaac Kook.</p> <p>Eliyashiv founded and headed the yeshiva Tiferes Bochurim. The best bochurim would go to learn but the weaker ones went to work. Elyashiv, known as the Humeler Rov, felt badly for the young men who did not study Torah so he founded Tiferes Bochurim, which was later headed by his son. He would wake his students at 3:00 A.M., study with them until 7:00, pray with them and send them off to work. </p> <p>Elyashiv was the author of Bikkurei Avrohom</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

      • text<h3 style="text-align:right">תולדותיו</h3> <p style="text-align:right">נולד בשאולאי, ליטא, בשם אברהם לוינסון, בנם של חנה ורבי משה לוינסון מהעיר אראן ("ר' משה אראנר") שנודע בצדיקותו. בצעירותו למד בישיבת ראדין הסמוכה לאראן, אצל החפץ חיים. כמו כן נחשב תלמידו של המגיד הרב אליקום גצל לויטן.</p> <p style="text-align:right">בשנת תרנ"ג (1893) נשא את חיה מושא, בתו של המקובל הרב שלמה אלישיב. בשנת תרנ"ז (1897) הדפיס את ספרו "ביכורי אברהם". בראש חודש ניסן תר"ע (1910), שבע עשרה שנה לאחר נישואיהם, נולד בנם היחיד יוסף שלום.</p> <p style="text-align:right">בתקופת מלחמת העולם הראשונה עבר עם משפחתו ועם חותנו משאוול להומל. כיהן כרב העיר, ועל שמה כונה "דער האמלער רב" ("הרב של הומל"). בשנת תרע"ד (1914) הוציא את הספר "הלכות בית הכנסת ובית המדרש".</p> <p style="text-align:right">בשנת תרפ"ד (1924), עלה עם משפחתו ועם חותנו לארץ ישראל והמשפחה התגוררה בשכונת מאה שערים בירושלים. לצורך העלייה שינה את שם משפחתו מלוינסון לאלישיב, כשם חותנו. שינוי השם נעשה בעצת החפץ חיים, ולשם השגת הסרטיפיקט נעזרה המשפחה ברב קוק. בשנת תרפ"ה (1925) הוציא כרך נוסף בספרו "ביכורי אברהם".</p> <p style="text-align:right">הרב אלישיב ייסד את חברת "תפארת בחורים", עבור צעירים ירושלמים שעבדו לפרנסתם. היה מוסר להם שיעורי תורה יומיים וכן שיעורים ודרשות מדי שבת. עסק בהוצאת ספריו של חותנו "לשם שבו ואחלמה".</p> <p style="text-align:right">אחותו דינה הייתה אשת הרב ניסן בן ציון שמושקוביץ, שכיהן כרב בכמה קהילות בליטא ולאחר עלייתו לארץ ישראל בשנת תרצ"ה שימש רב בחיפה. בנו הוא הרב מנחם מאיר ציוני, אב"ד בתל אביב (אביו של הרב פרץ ציוני, רבה של עפולה).</p> <p style="text-align:right">נקבר בבית הקברות הר הזיתים, לצד חמיו. בנו, הרב יוסף שלום אלישיב, מונה כממלא מקומו ב"תפארת בחורים".</p> <p style="text-align:right">זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן</p>
