    • info<p>Eli served as Kohen Gadol (high priest) and judged the nation of Israel for 40 years (Samuel I 4:18), during the period of the Judges in Israel.       </p> <p>He was one of the descendants of Ithamar son of Aharon HaKohen (<em>Yalkut Shimoni</em>, Shoftim 68).</p> <p>He was king [leader of Israel], Kohen Gadol (high Priest), and head of the Sanhedrin (<em>Yalkut HaMechiri,</em> Tehillim 75:4).</p> <p>The <em>Book of Tagin</em>  was copied by Eli from the 12 rocks that <a href="showz.php?p=yehoshua.htm">Yehoshua</a> (Joshua) erected in Gilgal, and [Eli in turn] transmitted it to the prophet <a href="showz.php?p=shmuel.htm">Shmuel</a> (Samuel) (<em>Otzar HaMidrashim</em> 564).</p> <p>Channah [who had been praying silently in Eli's presence] answered and said, "No my master (Samuel I 1:15). You are not a master in this matter, and Divine Inspiration does not rest upon you if you have judged me unfavorably [thinking that I am intoxicated]" (<em>Berachot</em> 31b). </p> <p>Eli aged [prematurely] because of the troubles he had with his sons Chofni and Pinchas (<em>Aggadat Bereishit</em>).</p> <p>Before Eli's sun set, the sun of Shmuel (Samuel the prophet) the Ramathite rose (<em>Kiddushim</em> 72b).</p> <p>Eli died on the tenth of Iyar (end of <em>Megillat Ta'anit</em>).</p> <p>When Eli died, Shiloh was destroyed and [the Sanctuary was relocated] to Nob (<em>Zevachim </em>118b).</p> <p>The house of Eli has no sages ordained [to render halachic rulings], for [God told Eli,] "There shall be no sage in your house" (Samuel I 2:32) (Sanhedrin 14a).</p> <p>The iniquity of the house of Eli shall not be expiated with sacrifice or offering (Samuel I 3:14). With sacrifice or offering it is not expiated [for their iniquity dealt with the sacrifices (<em>Metzdat David</em>)], but it is expiated with Torah study and with seeds of kindness (Rosh Hashanah 18a). </p> <p>There was one family in Jerusalem whose [members] used to die at the age of 18. They were of the house of Eli, [whom God had told,] "All the increase of your house will die young men" (Samuel I 2:33).</p> <p>May the merit of the tzaddik  Eli Kohen Gadol  protect us all, Amen.</p>

Fue rey (Líder de Israel), Kohen Gadol (Sumo Sacerdote) y líder del Sanedrín (Yalkut HaMechiri, Tehilim 75:4).</p> <p>El libro de  Tagin fue copiado por Elí de las 12 rocas que Yehoshua (Josué) levantó en Gilgal, y Elí a cambio las transmitió al profeta Shmuel (Samuel) (<em>Otzar HaMidrashim</em> 564).</p> <p>Janá (Ana), quien estuvo orando silenciosamente en la presencia de Elí, respondió diciendo “No mi Señor (I Samuel 1:15).       • text<p style="text-align: right;"><strong>עלי הכהן</strong> הוא <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%93%D7%9E%D7%95%D7%AA_%D7%9E%D7%A7%D7%A8%D7%90%D7%99%D7%AA">דמות מקראית</a>, נחשב לאחרון <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%9B%D7%94%D7%9F_%D7%92%D7%93%D7%95%D7%9C">הכהנים הגדולים</a> מ<a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%9E%D7%A9%D7%9B%D7%9F_%D7%A9%D7%99%D7%9C%D7%94">משכן שילה</a>. לאחר <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A9%D7%9E%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%9F">שמשון</a>, שימש כ<a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%A4%D7%98_(%D7%9E%D7%A7%D7%A8%D7%90)">שופט</a> ומנהיג של <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A9%D7%91%D7%98%D7%99_%D7%99%D7%A9%D7%A8%D7%90%D7%9C">עם ישראל</a> במשך ארבעים שנה. עלי היה מצאצאי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%90%D7%99%D7%AA%D7%9E%D7%A8_%D7%94%D7%9B%D7%94%D7%9F">איתמר</a> בן <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%90%D7%94%D7%A8%D7%9F_%D7%94%D7%9B%D7%94%D7%9F">אהרן הכהן</a>. הוא נפטר בגיל 98.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;"> </h2> <h2 style="text-align: right;">חייו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">עלי חי במאה הי"א לפני הספירה. בחייו התחוללו שלושה אירועים ארוכי השפעה בעם ישראל:</p> <ul> <li style="text-align: right;">חורבן מקדש שילה.</li> <li style="text-align: right;">העברת הכהונה מבית איתמר לבית אלעזר.</li> <li style="text-align: right;">נפילת ארון הברית בשבי הפלשתים.</li> </ul> <h2 style="text-align: right;">בניו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">ספר שמואל מספר כי לעלי היו שני בנים - חפני ופנחס (מקורות שמותיהם כנראה מצריים). בניו חונכו כדי להיות כוהנים לאחר מות עלי. עלי ניסה להעביר להם גם את מעמדו כשופט דרך ירושה. חפני ופנחס חטאו חטאים דתיים כאשר פעלו ככוהנים בפועל במקום עלי, וניצלו את כוחם לרעה. לעלי נודע על מעשיהם הרעים של בניו פנחס וחפני, אשר מנצלים את כוחם לרעה, אם בלקיחת החתיכה הטובה של הקורבן לעצמם, אם בהטרדות של נשים שהגיעו למשכן ואם בדרכים אחרות. עלי מנסה להתעמת עם בניו כדי לשכנע אותם להפסיק לנצל את כוחם לרעה, אך אלה אינם מייחסים לדבריו חשיבות ומזלזלים בהם, כך נכשל עלי במשימתו להחזיר את בניו לדרך הישר. לפי פרושים מסוימים עלי לא הצליח לשכנע את בניו כי ריחם עליהם ולא הענישם במלוא החומרה שיכל. לאחר כשלונו של עלי להניא את בניו מדרך הרוע, הגיע לשילה "איש אלוהים" וניבא עליהם נבואת פורענות: כל בניו של עלי יחיו בעוני ולא יזכו לשיבה טובה. במקביל שמואל גדל ועלי מלמדו לקבל נבואה, ונבואתו הראשונה, שזרעו של עלי יהיה רע ולא יזבח לחיים טובים, מחזקת את דברי איש האלוהים לעלי.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">עלי ושמואל</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">בספר שמואל א' מתואר הקשר בינו לבין שמואל. בספר שמואל כתוב שעלי ראה את אמו לעתיד של שמואל, חנה, (אשר הייתה אשה אדוקה באמונותיה המאמינה בהנהגת ה' אך עדיין מתעקשת שלמרות עקרותה היא תהיה אמא) מתפללת. מכיוון שבתפילתה שפתיה נעו אך קולה לא נשמע, חשב עלי שהיא שיכורה, והאשים אותה במעשה. לאחר שהבין שטעה, הוא ברך אותה שתפילתה תתגשם, בלי לדעת למען מה התפללה. לאחר הולדת שמואל קיימה חנה את הנדר שנדרה להביא את שמואל לעזור לעלי במשכן הקודש ולהפוך להיות נזיר אלוהים. בהמשך מסופר כי עלי שפט מתוך היכל המזוזה במשכן שילה מכיוון שזקן היה ולכן היה מרוחק מהעם אשר היה רואה אותו רק בשלושת הרגלים, זאת לעומת שמואל הנביא ואהוד בן גרא. עלי הכהן, שהיה גם שופט, הזדקן, ובניו מכהנים בפועל ככהנים הגדולים ומבצעים את כל עבודת הקודש במשכן שילה. על כן אלקנה המתואר כאיש מפיץ דת ומחנך רואה בתקופת עלי יותר ויותר אנשים הבאים אליו ואל אנשים בדרגתו ומעמדו כדי לקבל תשובות על עברם של בני ישראל, תשובות אותן היו אמורים לקבל מהכהן.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">מותו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;"><a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A7%D7%95%D7%91%D7%A5:Entrance_to_Tel_Shilo.JPG"><img alt="" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9e/Entrance_to_Tel_Shilo.JPG/250px-Entrance_to_Tel_Shilo.JPG" style="height:276px; width:250px" /></a></p> <p style="text-align: right;">שער תל שילה - המקום בו נפטר עלי הכהן</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בסוף ימיו של עלי הכריזו הפלשתים מלחמה על ישראל. הפלשתים, שלהם היה צבא חזק ומיומן, ניצחו ניצחון מוחץ את ישראל. בניו של עלי, חפני ופנחס, מתו במלחמה בגיל צעיר כפי שניבא איש האלוהים בעקבות מעלליהם. ארון האלוהים, הקדוש שבנכסי ישראל, נפל בידי פלשתים. מסופר כי כאשר בא השליח ומסר לעלי על התבוסה של בני ישראל, הוא סיפר לעלי על החדשות השרירותיות לכאורה וממשיך עד לחדשות הרעות ביותר, וכך התחיל בספרו על ההפסד של ישראל לפלשתים, ממשיך בידיעת המגפה שפרצה בעם, מודיע על מותם של שני בניו האהובים של עלי, חפני ופנחס, ולבסוף מדווח על הנורא מכל: ארון הברית נלקח בידי פלשתים. באומרו זאת, גרם לעלי הלם כבד, וזה נפל מכיסאו ושבר את מפרקתו. ספר שמואל מתאר את מות עלי, בי' באייר על פי המסורת, אחרי שנודע לו על הלקח ארון הברית בידי הפלשתים, וגורל משפחתו:</p> <blockquote> <p style="text-align: right;">וַיְהִי כְּהַזְכִּירוֹ אֶת-אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים, וַיִּפֹּל מֵעַל-הַכִּסֵּא אֲחֹרַנִּית בְּעַד יַד הַשַּׁעַר וַתִּשָּׁבֵר מַפְרַקְתּוֹ וַיָּמֹת--כִּי-זָקֵן הָאִישׁ, וְכָבֵד;
