    • info<p><span style="line-height:1.6em">Chassidic leader.</span></p> <p>Son of Rabbi Yitzchak, the rabbi of Slavuta, he was a descendant of Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropole. He was a disciple of the Maggid of Mezritch , Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz and a close friend of Rabbi Baruch of Medzhiboz.<br /> <br /> Rabbi Yaacov Shimshon of Shepetovka was a great halachic authority whose considerable erudition earned him respect and recognition in rabbinic circles. He is quoted in Zera Efraim by R' Efrayim Zalman Margulies.</p> <p>He was assigned the formidable task of expounding chassidic doctrine to such rabbinical authorities as R' Yechezkel Landau of Prague, R' Yeshaaya Yehuda Loeb Berlin, and R' Efrayim Zalman Margulies of Brody. These rabbis were opposed to to the chassdic movement of the Baal Shem Tov. <br /> <br /> He succeeded his father as rabbi in Shepetovka, but in 1799 he settled in Teveria (Israel) where he met Rabbi Nachman of Breslov while he was on his journey in Israel. It was a great joy for Rabbi Yaacov Shimshon to meet Rabbi Nachman , he made a meal in his honor and rejoiced exceedingly with him, speaking privately with him for a long while.</p> <p>Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon traveled as an emissary on behalf of the chasidic settlers in Israel. <br /> <br /> May the merit of the tzaddik Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon of Shepetovka protect us all, Amen.</p>

Su gran erudición le obtuvo el respeto y el reconocimiento en círculos rabínicos. Se le cita en el Zera Efraim de R' Efrayim Zalman Margulies.</p> <p> </p> <p>Se le asignó la formidable tarea de exponer la doctrina jasídica a grandes autoridades rabínicas como R' Yejezkel Landau de Praga, R' Yeshaaya Yehuda Loeb Berlín, y R' Efrayim Zalman Margulies de Brody. Estos rabinos se oponían al movimiento jasídico del <strong>Baal Shem Tov</strong>.</p> <p> </p> <p>Sucedió a su padre como rabino de Shepetovka, pero en 1799 se estableció en Tiberias (Israel), donde conoció a <strong>Rabí Najman de Breslev</strong> mientras se encontraba en un viaje dentro del país. Fue una gran alegría para Rabí Yaacov Shimshon conocer a Rabí Najman; le hizo una comida en su honor y se alegró enormemente con él, y hablaron en privado durante un largo tiempo.</p> <p> </p> <p>El rabino Yaakov Shimshon viajó como emisario en nombre de los pobladores jasídicos de Israel.</p>

      • text<p style="text-align: right;">רבי <strong>יעקב שמשון משיפיטובקה </strong>נולד לרב יצחק, שהיה הרב של סלאוויטא, שפטיבקה, אומן ובאר. למד אצל המגיד ממזריטש והרב פנחס מקוריץ ומילא את מקומו של אביו כרב.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">האגדה החסידית מספרת כי הוא נודע בלמדנותו ובחריפותו ולכן הוטל עליו להפיץ את בשורת החסידות אצל רבנים ידועים. בעקבות כך הגיע גם אל רבה של פראג, הנודע ביהודה. הוא נוכח לדעת שהלה מזלזל בחשיבותו של הספר "תולדות יעקב יוסף" ובשל כך נכנס עמו לוויכוח, שבו ניצח. הוויכוח האמור נדפס ככל הנראה לראשונה בספר "אמרי נועם" של הרב משה לייב שפירא, צ'רנוביץ תרמ"ד.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">ככל הנראה עלה לארץ ישראל פעמיים, לראשונה בסביבות שנת תק"ן ושוב בשנת תקנ"ה. התיישב בטבריה והתעמת שם עם הרב אברהם מקאליסק. הוא יצא לחו"ל כדי לגייס כספים עבור עולי פולין. בשנת תקנ"ט חזר לארץ ישראל והגיע לחיפה. בספר "שבחי הר"ן" מסופר שפגש שם במקרה את שליחו של רבי נחמן מברסלב אשר חיפש ספינה שבה יוכל רבי נחמן לחזור למולדתו. רבי יעקב שמשון מסר את הכסף לשליח מתוך חשש שאחרת ייתפסו בידי השלטונות שחיפשו כספים אלה. רבי נחמן ראה בכך סימן שעליו להישאר פרק זמן נוסף בארץ ישראל. בהמשך פייס רבי נחמן בין רבי אברהם מקאליסק ובין רבי יעקב שמשון.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">חתניו היו רבי יהודה מאיר שפירא משיפיטובקה - בנו של רבו רבי פנחס מקוריץ, ורבי ישראל יהודה לייב מקרסנה.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת ה'תשע''ז הוקם בטבריה בית מדרש הנושא את שמו.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל</p>
