    • info<p>Rabbi Yosef Dov (Yoshe Ber) Solevetchik of Brisk, the Beis Halevi, father of Rabbi Chaim Solevetchik.Yosef Dov (1820-1892) was born in Nisvizh, near Minsk, to Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Soloveitchik. Rabbi Yitzchak Zev was a grandson through his mother of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin. Although Rabbi Yitzchak Zev was not a Rabbi he was known as a baki in Shas and Shulchan Aruch. By the time Yosef Dov was ten he knew Mesechtas Bava Kama, Bava Metzia, Bava Basra, Brachos, Gittin and Kiddushin by heart and was already writing his own chiddushim. When he was 11 his father brought him to Volozhin to learn under his uncle, Rabbi Itzeleh, the Rosh Yeshiva and son of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin. After his marriage, his father-in-law supported him for thirteen years. In 1849, Rabbi Itzeleh of Volozhin passed away. Less than four years later, his successor, Rabbi Eliezer Yitzchak Fried also passed away. The Rabbanim decided that two descendants of Rav Chaim of Volozhin, the Netziv and the Beis Haleivi, would lead the yeshiva. The Netziv would be Rosh Yeshiva and the Beis Haleivi would be assistant Rosh Yeshiva.The sefer Beis Haleivi is comprised primarily from the shiurim he gave in Volozhin. His derech halimud was something that was completely new and original to the Volozhiner Yeshiva and was very different from the traditional way that shiurim were given there. His sefer Beis Haleivi was published in 1863. In 1865, a delegation from the city of Slutzk came to the Beis Haleivi to present him with a ksav rabbanus that was signed by all of the respected members of the community and recommended by Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Spektor, the Kovno Rav. The Beis Haleivi served as Rabbi of Slutzk for close to ten years, but his unbending battle against the maskilim and the wealthy eventually forced him from the city. In 1865, a delegation from Brisk came to him and offered him the position of Rav to replace Rav Yehoshua Leib Diskin who had just moved to Eretz Yisrael. The Beis Haleivi served as Rav in Brisk for 17 years until his passing.</p> <p>May the merit of the tzadik Rabbi Yosef Dov (Yoshe Ber) Solevetchik of Brisk protect us all. Amen</p> <p> </p>

      • text<p style="text-align: right;">רבי <strong>יוסף דוב</strong> (יושֶׁה בֶּר) <strong>הלוי סולובייצ'יק</strong>  היה מגדולי דורו. כיהן כמשנה ראש ישיבה בישיבת וולוז'ין, אחר כך היה לרבה של העיר סלוצק ואחריה רבה של העיר בריסק בליטא בין השנים 1879-1892. נחשב לראשון לשושלת בריסק - שושלת שרבנים רבים ומפורסמים נמנו עליה. בנו היה רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%97%D7%99%D7%99%D7%9D_%D7%A1%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%91%D7%99%D7%99%D7%A6%27%D7%99%D7%A7">חיים סולובייצ'יק</a>, שכאביו אף הוא כיהן כראש ישיבת וואלוזי'ן וכרב ואב"ד בריסק, ונכדו רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%A6%D7%97%D7%A7_%D7%96%D7%90%D7%91_%D7%A1%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%91%D7%99%D7%99%D7%A6%27%D7%99%D7%A7">יצחק זאב סולובייצ'יק</a> היה רבה האחרון של העיר, ובפרוץ השואה עלה לירושלים והרביץ תורה לתלמידים. רבי יוסף דב חיבר ספרי שו"ת וספר על המקרא. ספריו נקראים בשם "<strong>בית הלוי</strong>".</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;"> </h2> <h2 style="text-align: right;">תולדותיו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">נולד בניסוויז בשנת תק"פ. אביו היה רבי יצחק זאב, תלמיד חכם ועסקן ציבורי, בנם של רלקה, בתו של רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%97%D7%99%D7%99%D7%9D_%D7%9E%D7%95%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%96%27%D7%99%D7%9F">חיים מוולוז'ין</a> ורבי יוסף, אב"ד קובנה. אמו הייתה רבקה בת רבי משה כהנא שפירא רבה של ניסוויז, חסידו של רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%9E%D7%A8%D7%93%D7%9B%D7%99_%D7%9E%D7%9C%D7%A2%D7%9B%D7%95%D7%95%D7%99%D7%98%D7%A9">מרדכי מלעכוויטש</a> ואביו החורג של רבי יצחק זאב.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בילדותו למד בתלמוד תורה המקומי של ניסוויזש. בהיותו בן 10 נסע לוולוז'ין, שם למד אצל מלמד פרטי, עד הגיעו לגיל 13. עם הכנסו למצוות נתקבל כתלמיד בישיבת וולוז'ין, שם למד עד שהתמנה כממלא מקומו של רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%92%D7%A8%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%9F_%D7%AA%D7%A0%D7%97%D7%95%D7%9D_%D7%9E%D7%9E%D7%99%D7%A0%D7%A1%D7%A7">גרשון תנחום ממינסק</a> בישיבתו ב"בלומקה'ס קלויז" במינסק</p> <p style="text-align: right;">אשתו הראשונה הייתה בתו של חסיד חב"ד עשיר מבוברויסק הוא התגרש ממנה לאחר כשנה, כשכבר הייתה להם בת אחת. לאחר תקופה נישא בשנית לצירל, בתו של ר' יצחק עפרון מוולוז'ין, חסיד לעכוויטש.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת ה'תרי"ד (1853) הוכתר למשנה לראש ישיבת וולוזי'ן - רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A0%D7%A4%D7%AA%D7%9C%D7%99_%D7%A6%D7%91%D7%99_%D7%99%D7%94%D7%95%D7%93%D7%94_%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%9C%D7%99%D7%9F">נפתלי צבי יהודה ברלין</a>, הנודע בכינויו "הנצי"ב".</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת תרכ"ג 1863 פרסם את ספרו הראשון - שאלות ותשובות "<strong>בית הלוי</strong>".</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בתחילת שנת תרכ"ה 1864, לאחר שעזב את משרתו בישיבת וולוז'ין, נתמנה לרבה של העיר סלוצק שבליטא, תחת רבה הקודם שנפטר - רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%95%D7%A1%D7%A3_%D7%A4%D7%99%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%A8">יוסף פיימר</a>. בסלוצק התקבצו סביבו חבורה של בחורים, שחפצו ללמוד תורה מפיו. בשנת תרל"ב בהיותו בסלוצק, נפטרה אשתו צירל, שהייתה אמם של רוב ילדיו, בהם רבי חיים מבריסק. נישא בשלישית לאסתר ביילא רובינליכט בתו של משה אליעזר טמקין מוורשה, שהייתה אלמנה ואמא לשמונה ילדים.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בפסח שנת תרל"ה 1875, החליט להסתלק מרבנות סלוצק, עקב מחלוקת עם פרנסי העיר, שהנהגתו התקיפה בעניינים ציבוריים לא נשאה חן בעיניהם. הוא עקר לוורשה שבפולין, והתגורר שם כארבע שנים. בוורשה נוצרו קשרים בינו לבין האדמו"ר החסידי מגור - רבי יהודה אריה לייב אלתר, הנודע בספרו "<a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A9%D7%A4%D7%AA_%D7%90%D7%9E%D7%AA_(%D7%A1%D7%A4%D7%A8)">שפת אמת</a>". זאת למרות היותו של ר' יוסף דב מתנגד.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת תרל"ט 1879, הוכתר לרבה של העיר בריסק, תחת רבה הקודם - רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%94%D7%95%D7%A9%D7%A2_%D7%9C%D7%99%D7%99%D7%91_%D7%93%D7%99%D7%A1%D7%A7%D7%99%D7%9F">יהושע לייב דיסקין</a>, שנאלץ לברוח לארץ ישראל. בבריסק הוא שימש ברבנות עד יום מותו.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת תרמ"ח 1888 חלה רבי יוסף דב בכיב קיבה וסבל כאבים עזים במשך כמה שנים. בשנת תרנ"א 1891 הורע מצבו והוא נותח.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">סגירת ישיבת וולוז'ין על ידי ממשלת רוסיה השפיעה עליו לרעה, וביום ד' באייר תרנ"ב 1892 נפטר. ההלויה התקיימה בו ביום, ובמהלכה הוכתר בנו רבי חיים לרבה של בריסק. הספידוהו ברחבי העולם היהודי.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">משנה ראש ישיבת וולוז'ין (תרי"ד - תרכ"ד)</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">שיעוריו בישיבה ושיטת לימודו הייתה בחריפות ובפלפול. שיטתו זו שונה משיטת לימודו של ראש הישיבה רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A0%D7%A4%D7%AA%D7%9C%D7%99_%D7%A6%D7%91%D7%99_%D7%99%D7%94%D7%95%D7%93%D7%94_%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%9C%D7%99%D7%9F">נפתלי צבי יהודה ברלין</a> (הנצי"ב) שהיה פחות מפלפל בשיעורו, יותר מעמיק בפשט, ומוסר את שיעורו בבקיאות יתירה. שיטתו זו הייתה חביבה על התלמידים המוכשרים ב<a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%A9%D7%99%D7%91%D7%AA_%D7%95%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%96%27%D7%99%D7%9F">ישיבת וולוז'ין</a> בשל חריפותה וחידודה, אם כי לא זו הייתה שיטת הלימוד הנהוגה בישיבה מקדמת דנא מאז הקמתה על ידי ר' <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%97%D7%99%D7%99%D7%9D_%D7%9E%D7%95%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%96%27%D7%99%D7%9F">חיים מוולוז'ין</a>, השיטה הנהוגה בישיבה עד אז הייתה כשיטת לימודו של הנצי"ב - פחות חריפה ומפולפלת, ויותר משקיעה בפשט הסוגיא בבקיאות ובעמקות.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">רבי <a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%A6%D7%97%D7%A7_%D7%9E%D7%90%D7%99%D7%A8_%D7%90%D7%9C%D7%AA%D7%A8">יצחק מאיר</a>, האדמו"ר מגור, שלח אחדים מתלמידיו ללמוד תורה מפי ר' יוסף דב.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">ימיו בראשות הישיבה לא ארכו, ועקב חילוקי דעות בינו לבין הנצי"ב הוא התפטר ממשרתו. לאחר התפטרותו שלח אליו הנצי"ב מספר פעמים בקשה שיחזור אל משרתו כמשנה לראש ישיבת וולוז'ין.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">רב העיר סלוצק (תרכ"ה - תרל"ה)</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">רבי יצחק אלחנן ספקטור שהיה מגדולי הדור ורבה של קובנא הוא שהמליץ על ר' יוסף דב לשמש כרב לפרנסי העיר.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">ר' יושה בער התנה את מינויו לרב העיר בהסכמתו של ר' מנחם מנדל עפשטיין (רבי מנדלי) שהיה מגדולי הדור ותלמיד מובהק של ר' חיים מוולוז'ין, אשר שימש רב בהאלוסק. אחר כך הוא עבר להתגורר בסלוצק שם הרביץ תורה לשנים עשר אברכים שהחזיקו על חשבונם הגבירים ר' יונה ובנו ר' שכנא איסרלין ואחריהם יוצאי חלציהם.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">ר' יוסף דב דאג לצורכי עניי עירו והסתכסך עם העשירים ונכבדי העיר. מחלוקות אלו גרמו לכך שהוא החליט להתפטר מרבנות העיר סלוצק.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">כתביו</h2> <ul> <li style="text-align: right;"><strong>בית הלוי</strong> - שו"ת ג' חלקים. בספר זה ניתן לראות את ניצניה של שיטת הלימוד המכונה שיטת בריסק. דוגמה לכך היא חידושו של רב יוסף דב, שמצוות אכילת קרבנות מורכבת משני חלקים: האחד - מצווה על האדם שיאכל את הקרבן, כדרך שישנה מצווה לאכול מצה בליל הסדר, למשל. השני - מצווה שהקרבן ייאכל, כדי שלא תיוותר ממנו שארית פסולה הנקראת "נותר".</li> <li style="text-align: right;"><strong>בית הלוי</strong> - על התורה. בספר זה נוקט רבי יוסף דב בשיטה דרשנית, ומצביע על קשר רב בין המקרא למדרש.</li> <li style="text-align: right;"><strong>משלחנו של בית הלוי</strong> - שיחות ומאמרים, חלקם מכתי"ק של המחבר אשר מסרו בניו מספרינג ואלי, וחלק מאסף מספרים שונים בהם הובאו חידושים בשמו, וחלק מכתבי תלמידים לבית בריסק.</li> </ul> <p style="text-align: right;"><a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A7%D7%95%D7%91%D7%A5:Bethalevi.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a6/Bethalevi.jpg/250px-Bethalevi.jpg" style="height:350px; width:250px" /></a></p>

      • text<p><strong>El rabino Yosef Dov (Yoshe Ber) Solevetchik de Brisk</strong>, el Beis Halevi, padre del rabino Jaim Solevetchik. Nació en Nisvizh, cerca de Minsk, cerca de Minsk, hijo del rabino Yitzchak Zev Soloveitchik. El rabino Itzjak Zev era nieto a través de su madre del rabino Jaim de Volozhin. Aunque el rabino Itzjak Zev no era un rabino, era conocido como baki en Shas y Shulchan Aruch.
