    • short_info<p><strong>Aryeh Löb ben Mordecai Ha-Levi Epstein</strong> was a Polish rabbi . At first he refused to become a rabbi, preferring to devote himself entirely to study, but in 1739 he was forced by poverty to accept the rabbinate of Brestovech, </p>
    • info<p>Polish rabbi; born in Grodno 1708; died in Königsberg, Prussia, June 26, 1775. At first he refused to become a rabbi, preferring to devote himself entirely to study; but in 1739 he was forced by poverty to accept the rabbinate of Brestovech, Lithuania, and in 1745 he became rabbi of Königsberg, where he remained until his death. He corresponded with Elijah, gaon of Wilna, and with Jonathan Eybeschütz, with whom he sided in the quarrel about amulets.</p> <p>He is the author of "Or ha-Shanim," on the 613 commandments (Frankfort - on - the - Oder, 1754); "Halakah Aḥaronah" and "Ḳunṭres ha-Ra'yot" (<em>ib.</em> 1754; Königsberg, 1759); "Sefer ha-Pardes," in three parts—(1) on the Shema' and the observance of Sabbath, (2) sermons, (3) funeral orations (<em>ib.</em> 1759). Several other cabalistic and halakic works from his pen are mentioned in his own works or by his biographer. A prayer which he composed on the occasion of the dedication of a new synagogue in Königsberg (<em>ib.</em> 1756) is found in the Bodleian Library. Annotations by him and by his son Abraham Meïr are published in some of the later editions of the Babylonian Talmud. He is called "Levin Marcus" in Solowicz's "Gesch. der Juden in Königsberg," Posen, 1857.</p> <p>May the merit of the tzadik Rabbi <strong>Aryeh Lieb ben Mordecai Ha-Levi Epstein</strong> will protect us all.       • text<p> </p> <p style="text-align: right;"> </p> <p style="text-align: right;">הרב <strong>אריה לייב הלוי אפשטיין</strong>  היה רב ומקובל במאה ה-18, נודע בכינויו <strong>בעל הפרדס</strong> על שם ספרו. כיהן כרבה של קניגסברג במשך שלושים שנה.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">תולדותיו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">נולד בהרודנה לרב מרדכי הלוי אפשטיין, שכונה מרדכי וילנר, מצאצאי רבי אהרון הלוי מברצלונה (הרא"ה) ורבי זרחיה הלוי, בעל המאור. למד תורה אצל הרב אייזיק מהרודנה. נישא לבתו של רבי אלכסנדר מסלוצק, שהיה מצאצאי המהר"ל מפראג.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">לאחר נישואיו התמנה כמגיד מישרים בהרודנה, ולאחר מכן שימש ברבנות ברסטויץ ואלינקה. בשנת תק"ה (1745) התמנה לרבה של קניגסברג, וכיהן בתפקידו במשך שלושים שנה, עד לפטירתו בשנת תקל"ה (1775).</p> <p style="text-align: right;">לאחר פטירתו עלה על כס הרבנות בקניגסברג חתן אחותו, רבי שמשון קרליץ.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">כתביו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">הרב אפשטיין חיבר עשרים ושלושה ספרים, עשרה מהם הדפיס בחייו. ספריו עוסקים בחוכמת הנגלה והנסתר, בהלכה ובאגדה, וכן בחוכמת ה<a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%90%D7%A1%D7%98%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%A0%D7%95%D7%9E%D7%99%D7%94">תכונה</a> וחוכמת העיבור. ספרו הנודע הוא "הפרדס", שבו הוא מבאר כל מצווה מ<a href="https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%AA%D7%A8%D7%99%22%D7%92_%D7%9E%D7%A6%D7%95%D7%95%D7%AA">תרי"ג מצוות</a> על פי מקורותיה, מן התנ"ך, התלמוד, השולחן ערוך והזוהר.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בזקנותו הוציא סידור תפילה עם כוונות האר"י ותלמידיו בשם "אור השנים".</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">הסכמות הגאון מווילנה על חיבוריו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">הגאון מווילנה העניק במשך כל שנות חייו שלוש הסכמות לספרים - שתיים מהן היו לספריו של הרב אפשטיין.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">על ספרו "הלכה אחרונה" כותב הגר"א:</p> <blockquote> <p style="text-align: right;">לאהוב נפשי הרב הגאון המאור הגדול המפורסם בתורה ובחסידות, נר ישראל עמוד הימיני פטיש החזק... באתי להודיע שקיבלתי ספר הקדוש שחיבר... בהיות שאני מכיר הרב המחבר אריה דבי עילאי, שמעודו נטה שכמו לסבול עול תורה ועול מלכות שמים, ועכשיו ביותר לעת זקנותו... בעיון קצת ראיתי שהוא מלא יראת ה'.</p> </blockquote> <p style="text-align: right;">אף על סידור התפילה "אור השנים" זכה להסכמה מהגר"א, שבה הכתירו בתואר "הרב הדומה למלאך ה' צבאות".</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">קשריו עם רבי יהונתן אייבשי</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">הרב אפשטיין נחשב מגדולי הרבנים בדורו, והיה בקשר קרוב עם כמה מן המפורסמים שבהם, ביניהם רבי אריה לייב ממיץ ורבי יהונתן אייבשיץ מפראג. באחד ממכתביו של רבי יהונתן אייבשיץ אליו הוא מכנהו "ראש גולת אריאל, רכב ישראל ופרשיו, חסידא ופרישא", ובמכתב אחר הוא חותם "ממני הנרצע באהבתו כל הימים ונפשי קשורה בנפשו".</p> <p style="text-align: right;">ההערכה בין שני הרבנים הייתה הדדית ובמחלוקת שפרצה בין רבי יהונתן אייבשיץ לרבי יעקב עמדין יצא הרב אפשטיין להגנת רבי יהונתן אייבשיץ. בספרו "הפרדס" הוא מזכיר את הפרשה וכותב: "...אף שדיברו על צדיק עתק בגאווה ובוז... כי אין להכחיש הידוע לכל מתורתו וחריפותו ובקיאותו בנגלה ובנסתר ממש חד בדרא, ובשארי מעלות ומידות בכל החוכמות".</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">נוסח מצבתו</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">"רב האי גאון עוזנו, נשיא אלוקים בתוכנו, אדוננו מורנו ורבינו, המאיר בתורתו עלינו, כארי לבות שומעיו שסף, לוויית חן מפז וכסף... אבד צדיק ואין איש היות סודו חושף, זה צל השמש יקר איך פנתה אחרי האסף."</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">מתלמידיו</h2> <ul> <li style="text-align: right;">רבי אלכסנדר זיסקינד מהוראדנא, בעל "יסוד ושורש העבודה".</li> </ul> <h2 style="text-align: right;">צאצאיו</h2> <ul> <li style="text-align: right;">הרב <strong>אברהם מאיר הלוי אפשטיין</strong> - היה רב בליסקובי ולאחר מכן אב"ד בעיר מוש-חדש. היה מתלמידי המגיד ממזריץ'. בנו הוא הרב אפרים מרדכי הלוי אפשטיין, שבשנת תק"ל התמנה לרב בקוסובה. לאחר מותו של הרב אפרים מרדכי התמנה תחתיו חתנו הרב יהודה מאיר לרב בקוסובה.</li> <li style="text-align: right;">הרב <strong>מרדכי הלוי אפשטיין</strong> - מתלמידי הגר"א.</li> <li style="text-align: right;">הרב <strong>יצחק הלוי אפשטיין</strong>, כונה "ר' איצ'לה גינשפריקר". התגורר בסלונים. בנו הרב אברהם הלוי אפשטיין, נודע כ"ר' אברהם מטולצ'ין". בנו הוא הרב מאיר הלוי אפשטיין, שכונה "ר' מאיר שניפישקר" - בצעירותו כיהן כדיין בווילנה, אחר כך כיהן כרב בקופישוק ובזקנותו שב לכהן כדיין בווילנה. היה מנותני ההסכמות לש"ס וילנה. בנו הוא הרב שאול קצנלבוגן-אפשטיין, חותנו של הרב שמריהו יוסף קרליץ וסבו של החזון איש. בת נוספת היא מרת חיה אפשטיין אשר נישאה לרב חיים שור. בנם הוא הרב אליהו יעקב דב שור, אב"ד זופראן ומחבר הספר "נטיעות חיים".</li> </ul> <p style="text-align: right;">זכותות תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל. אמן</p>

      • text<p>Aryeh Löb ben Mordecai Ha-Levi Epstein fue un rabino polaco. Al principio se negó a convertirse en rabino y prefirió dedicarse por completo a estudiar, pero en 1739 la pobreza lo obligó a aceptar el rabinato de Brestovech</p> <p><strong>Rabino polaco; nacido en Grodno 1708; murió en Königsberg, Prusia, el 26 de junio de 1775. </strong>Al principio se negó a convertirse en rabino y prefirió dedicarse por completo al estudio; pero en 1739 la pobreza lo obligó a aceptar el rabinato de Brestovech, Lituania, y en 1745 se convirtió en rabino de Königsberg, donde permaneció hasta su muerte. Se correspondía con Elijah, gaon de Wilna, y con Jonathan Eybeschütz, con quien se puso del lado de la disputa por los amuletos.</p> <p>Es autor de "Or ha-Shanim", sobre los 613 mandamientos (Frankfort - on - the - Oder, 1754); "Halakah Aḥaronah" y "Ḳunṭres ha-Ra'yot" (ib. 1754; Königsberg, 1759); "Sefer ha-Pardes", en tres partes: (1) sobre el Shema 'y la observancia del sábado, (2) sermones, (3) oraciones funerarias (ib. 1759). Varias otras obras cabalísticas y halájicas de su pluma se mencionan en sus propias obras o por su biógrafo. Una oración que compuso con motivo de la dedicación de una nueva sinagoga en Königsberg (ib. 1756) se encuentra en la Biblioteca Bodleian.
