    • info<p><b>Rabbi Azriel of Gerona,</b> also known as <b>Azriel ben Menahem</b> (Heb. <b>עזריאל בן מנחם</b>) (c. 1160 – c. 1238), was one of the most important kabbalists in the Catalan town of Girona (north of Barcelona) during the thirteenth century when it was an important center of Kabbalah. He is the teacher of the most important figure from the kabbalist community of Girona, Nahmanides.</p> <p>Azriel was the most important student of the mystic Isaac the Blind. His writings covered subjects pertaining to the sefirot and included his mystical interpretation of Jewish liturgy and of the aggadah. He took on Gabirol's philosophical work to integrate it into the ten sefirot.</p> <p>While his teacher Isaac the Blind considered Divine Thought to be the first supernatural quality to emanate from the Ayn Sof (or Eternal Being), Azriel argued that Divine Will was the first emanation. Therefore, it was the act of the will rather than the act of the intellect that was the first manifestation of God’s Eternal Being.</p> <p>May the merit of the tzadik <b>Rabbi Azriel of Gerona protect us all.       • text<p style="text-align: right;">רבי עזרא בן שלמה מגרונה, ואחיו רבי עזריאל בן שלמה מגרונה, היו מגדולי המקובלים בקטלוניה בסביבות שנת ד'תתק"ן, 1190. רבי עזרא נפטר בשנת ד'תתקפ"ח 1227. שניהם היו תלמידים של רבי יצחק סגי נהור בנו של הראב"ד בתורת הקבלה, וע"פ חלק מן הדעות, רבותיו של הרמב"ן בקבלה. חיברו חיבורים קצרים בתורת הקבלה, בניסוח סתום המאפשר הבנה בהם רק למי שכבר ידועים לו ענייני הקבלה ממקורות אחרים. במקורות מסוימים מחליפים בין רבי עזריאל בן שלמה זה, לבין רבי עזריאל בן מנחם, מקובל אחר בן אותה תקופה.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">תולדותיהם</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">שנת לידתם ופטירתם של האחים אינה מבוררת. על שנת פטירתו של רבי עזרא יש עדויות סותרות: יש המקדימים אותה לשנת ד'תתקנח, 1188, עובדה שאינה עולה בקנה אחד עם היותו תלמיד בנו של הראב"ד שנפטר שנה מאוחר יותר. יש המאחרים את תאריך פטירתו לט' טבת ד'תתקפח (20.12.1227), ויש המאחרים אותה בעוד עשר שנים. החיד"א בספרו שם הגדולים כותב שרבי עזרא בן שלמה הוא רבי עזרא הנביא ממונקטור (Moncontour), המובא בתוספות (שבועות כה, א ד"ה רב. וגיטין פח א ד"ה ודלמא)</p> <p style="text-align: right;">רבי עזרא היה מבוגר מרבי עזריאל.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">מדברי רבי עזריאל בספרו את תולדות חייו, ניכר שהיה מטבעו פילוסוף ומבקש חכמה, ומתוך אמונה שסודות היקום נמסרו ליהודים הוא חיפש את האמת ומצאה בדברי המקובלים היהודיים, שתורתם לא זכתה בזמנו לפרסום. ואלו דבריו:</p> <p style="text-align: right;">"מאז היותי צעיר ועד הנה לא נחתי מהיותי מחפש ומבקש בסודי ה' יתברך ויתעלה, ומעניין בריאת מעשיו ברוך הוא שהגיד מעשיו לעמו, ואני ברוב תאותי בכל מקום שהייתי לא עצרתי כח לשאול מכל אדם מעניין הקבלה ולקבלה כאשר ייתכן, והאמנתי בדברי המקובלים אשר להם נגלו סתרי אל וכל תעלומותיו . . ואני כהיום בארץ ספרד הביאני הזמן במקום עומד השפל בין פילוסופים, ואחבר זה הספר להיות לפניהם."</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">יחסי הקירבה בין שני המקובלים</h2> <p style="text-align: right;">עובדת דמיון שמו של רבי עזרא לשמו של אחיו רבי עזריאל, הביאה לידי כך שבמקומות רבים מובאים דברים בשמו של האחד, שעה שבמקורות אחרים הם מובאים בשמו של האחר. יש מהחוקרים שהסיקו מחמת כך שאדם אחד היה שלפעמים קראוהו עזרא ולפעמים קראוהו עזריאל</p> <p style="text-align: right;">עם זאת, מסקנת החוקרים היא שאכן שני אנשים היו ופעלו יחד. ראיה מכריעה לכך היא שתלמידם רבי משולם דאפירה כותב בספר הדיואן שלו קינה, ובה נאמר: "אקונן על שני אחים כשרים, יחדש מספדי יומי ולילי, לעזרא ועזריאל אבך ואבכה, ונזכר בן ברכיה באבלי". גם בשירים אחרים בספרו הוא מזכיר את שני האחים.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">סתירות רבות קיימות בדבר יחסי הקירבה בין שני המקובלים. בשער כתב יד של פירושי תפילות שחיברו, נאמר: "פירושי תפילות מרבי עזרא שחיבר והיה מקובל עם חתנו רבי עזריאל", אם כי ייתכן שרבי עזריאל נשא לאישה את אחייניתו, דבר הנחשב מצווה, לכל הפחות בזמנם. בדברי רבי משולם דאפירה הנזכרים מפורש שהיו אחים, אם כי ניתן לקבל את דבריו כמטאפורה לידידותם ופעילותם המשותפת. אך במקומות רבים מופיע שמם של אביהם, רבי שלמה, מה שמחזק את ההשערה שאחים היו בני אב אחד (ואמנם, ע"פ י. תשבי, גם זה יכול להיות תוספת של מעתיקים שהעבירו את שם האב מהאחד לשני בעקבות השערה על קרבתם), ובמקומות רבים מביא רבי עזריאל את רבי עזרא ומכנה אותו אדוני אחי.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">כך או כך, ניתן להסיק שרבי עזרא היה מבוגר מרבי עזריאל, עד שניתן היה לחושבו כחותנו, מה גם שרבי עזריאל מביא הרבה מדברי אחיו רבי עזרא ומכנה אותו אדוני אחי, ואילו רבי עזרא אינו מביא מדברי רבי עזריאל.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">משנתם</h2> <p><br /> משנתם העיקרית עוסקת בפירוש עשר הספירות כשלשלת של אצילות שבה התגלה האל במידותיו. מופיעים בה מאפיינים סימבוליים הלקוחים מתוך ספר יצירה, וסימבוליזם אנתרופומורפיים על שיעור קומה של האל. רבי עזרא התעניין בכל תחומי ההויה: האלהות, המלאכים, העולם והאדם. לעומתו רבי עזריאל התרכז בעיקר בתחום ההתבוננות בעולמות האצילות העליונים.</p> <p>רבי עזרא נהג לחזור על דבריו במקומות שונים כמעט ללא שינוי, ולעומתו רבי עזריאל מנסח את רעיונותיו בכל מקום בניסוח שונה ובתוספת גוון רעיוני חדש.</p> <p>מושגים רבים מתורת הפילוסופיה של הרמב"ם במורה נבוכים מקבלים צורה מיסטית בתורתם של מקובלים אלו, וכך יוצרת משנתם סינתיזה בין הפילוסופיה לקבלה. כך לדוגמה המושגים חומר, צורה ואפס, מקבלים במשנתם פירוש מסטי. בכתבי רבי עזריאל בלבד מופיעה חלוקת עשר הספירות לפי מערכת העולמות הנאו-אפלטונית, למוטבע, מורגש ומושכל.</p> <p>בפירוש שיר השירים של רבי עזרא לא מוזכר שמו של חכם אחר כלשהו, מלבד רבנו החסיד (רבי יצחק סגי נהור) בפסוק עורי צפון. עובדה ראויה לציון לנוכח עדותו הנזכרת של אחיו רבי עזריאל על כך שהיה מקבל ולומד חכמה מאנשים רבים.</p> <p>בפירוש שיר השירים של רבי עזרא מבואר שזמן הגאולה הוא בשנת ה'ר (1440). הרדב"ז בספרו מגן דוד (אות סמ"ך) מתחבט רבות בהשוואת מסורת זו ואחרות עם המציאות לפיה המשיח טרם בא.</p> <p>הנחתם הפשוטה הייתה כי תורת הקבלה שבידיהם הייתה גלויה לכותבי התלמוד, והם רמזוה באגדות התלמוד. הם ראו את רעיונותיהם כגילוי, פיתוח וסידור בלבד של הרעיונות המובעים באגדות אלו. את מחלוקות החכמים בענייני אגדה הם ראו כמחלוקת שולית, "בעניין הנאות לגלות בו את הסוד". אך לעומת רבי עזרא שהאמין בתמימות כי כוונת חז"ל בדבריהם היא לסודות הקבלה שבידו, רבי עזריאל מתאמץ מאמצים פרשניים רבים כדי לבצע את ההתאמה הזו.</p> <p>ישנם מקובלים מהזרם הלימודי של תלמידי הגר"א, הרואים בהתייחסותו של ר' עזריאל, למקומות בהם מקובצים עשר הספירות יחד כמעין אבן דרך לחידוש המיוחס להאר"י בתבניות של פרצופים</p> <p>למרות תפיסתם את תורת הקבלה כתורה שנמסרה דור אחר דור ממשה עד ימיהם, רבי עזרא אינו מונה בין מעבירי המסורת את רבי שמעון בר יוחאי, לו יוחס לאחר מכן ספר הזוהר, וחכמים אחרים כרבי עקיבא ורבי יוחנן בן זכאי תופסים את מקומו כמקובלים מדור המשנה. בספר ברית מנוחה, המאוחר מעט לגילוי הזוהר, ניסה לפתור בעיה זו תוך שהוא מייחס את הזוהר לרבי שמעון בנו של רבי יהודה הנשיא, שחי בסוף תקופת התנאים, תקופה שלא מפורטת בתיאורו של רבי עזרא.</p> <h2 style="text-align: right;">תלמידיהם</h2> <ul> <li       • text<p><strong>Rabbi Azriel de Gerona</strong>, nació en el siglo XII, fue un judío español, un cabalista y un filósofo. Era un miembro muy reconocido del círculo cabalístico de Gerona, fue un discípulo directo de Isaac el ciego. Azriel fue un maestro del RAMBÁN (Najmánides) y un conocedor de varias lenguas. De entre la gran cantidad de sus escritos, destaca el <em>Shaar ha-Sholo</em>, una exposición inteligible de la teoría de las diez <em>Sefirot</em> cabalísticas, en forma de preguntas y respuestas, siguiendo las reglas de la lógica, como indicación para los principiantes. Otros escritos como: el comentario del <em>Séfer Ietzirá</em> o Libro de la Creación, el comentario de las <em>hagadot</em> del Talmud y el comentario de la liturgia cotidiana.       • text<p><strong>Rabbi Azriel ben Menahem</strong> <big>עזריאל בן מנחם</big>, também conhecido como Esdra filho de Salomão (Ezra ben Solomon) ou Azriel de Gerona. Fundador da Cabalá especulativa chamado de "O Santo" ou apenas Azriel. Nascido em Gerona em 1160 e morto em 1238. Quanto à identidade de Azriel e Esdras, assumindo serem dois irmãos por Grätz, e Bloch, e compare com Jellinek.</p> <p> </p> <h2>Panorama geral</h2> <h3>Vida</h3> <p>Atraído pelos estudos místicos que começaram a se espalhar na Espanha, Azriel foi cedo para o sul da França, e lá se tornou um aluno do célebre cabalista Isaac, o Cego, filho de Abraão de Posquières. Mais tarde, ele deixou a França e viajou por toda a Espanha, fazendo propaganda para a Cabalá. Ele se esforçou para conquistar os filósofos para suas visões místicas, mas não conseguiu, como ele mesmo confessa na introdução de seu comentário sobre as Dez Sefirot. Pois, diz ele, os filósofos não acreditam em nada que não possa ser demonstrado logicamente. Ele voltou desapontado para Gerona, e lá fundou uma escola na qual Naḥmanides recebeu a instrução cabalística de Azriel, como é declarado por Abraham Zacuto (Yuḥasin), Meïr ibn Gabbai, Ibn Yaḥya ("Shalshelet ha-Ḳabbalah"), e outros.</p> <h3>Escritos</h3> <p>Azriel escreveu um comentário sobre as Dez Sefirot na forma de perguntas e respostas, seguindo o método especulativo da filosofia. Cujo título, que não foi dado pelo editor, foi <em>Ezrat Adonai</em>.Ele também escreveu um comentário sobre <em>Shir HaShirim</em>, atribuído com frequência a Naḥmanides, publicado em seu nome, no qual os 613 mandamentos são explicados misticamente como baseados na Torá. Azriel foi, além disso, o autor de um comentário sobre <em>Sefer Yetzirá</em>", intitulado <em>Sefer ha-Milluïm</em>, que também foi atribuído a Naḥmanides, e publicado em seu nome em Mântua, 1719. Ele é infinito; a negação de todas as negações; o infinito.</p> <p>Depois de ter declarado esta estranha concepção de Deus, Azriel investiga a relação deste Ein Sof com o universo. <em>O universo foi criado do nada? Não.</em> Aristóteles está perfeitamente certo em dizer que nada pode proceder do nada. Além disso, a criação implica uma diminuição na essência do Criador através da subtração, e isso não pode ser predicado do Ein Sof. Nem pode o universo ter existido eternamente, como afirma Aristóteles, porque nada é eterno, exceto Deus. Assim, a idéia platônica de uma questão primária também não é aceitável. Azriel, para resolver o problema da criação, recorre à teoria da emanação, que ele desenvolve da seguinte forma:</p> <ul> <li>O universo, com todas as suas múltiplas manifestações, estava latente na essência do Ein Sof, em que, apesar de sua infinita variedade, formava uma unidade absoluta, assim como as várias faíscas e cores que procedem do potencial único e indivisível da chama no carvão.</li> <li>O ato de criação não consistiu em produzir algo absolutamente novo; foi apenas uma transformação da existência potencial em existência realizada. Assim, não havia realmente criação, mas um efluxo(ver Atzilut). A efluência foi efetuada através de sucessivas gradações do mundo intelectual ao material, do indefinido ao definitivo.</li> <li>Este mundo material, sendo limitado e não perfeito, não poderia proceder diretamente do Ein Sof; nem poderia ser independente dele; porque nesse caso Ele seria imperfeito. Deve ter havido, portanto, intermediários entre o Ein Sof e o mundo material; e esses intermediários eram as Dez Sefirot.</li> <li>A primeira Sefirá estava latente no Ein Sof como uma força dinâmica; então a segunda Sefirá emanou como substrato para o mundo intelectual; depois, as outras Sefirot emanaram, formando a moral, o material e os mundos naturais. Mas esse fato de emanação não implica um <em>prius</em> ou um <em>posterius</em> ou uma gradação no Ein Sof - uma vela cuja chama é capaz de acender um número indefinido de luzes, embora, por si só, seja uma unidade.</li> <li>As Sefirot, de acordo com sua natureza, são divididas em três grupos: os três superiores formam o mundo do pensamento, os três seguintes o mundo da alma, os quatro últimos o mundo da corporeidade. Todos eles dependem uns dos outros, sendo unidos como links para o primeiro. Cada um deles tem uma qualidade positiva e passiva - emanar e receber.</li> </ul> <p>A primeira Sefirá é chamada por Azriel não Keter, como os cabalistas posteriores chamam, mas Rum Ma'alah.
