Tikkun 21 – 198
The subject of sacrifices and prayers continues from the previous Daily Zohar commentary. The sacrifices that were done in the Holy Temple are now replaced by our prayers so when we discuss the sacrifices it is directly related to our prayers.
Jeremiah 1:14
“ וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה, אֵלָי: מִצָּפוֹן תִּפָּתַח הָרָעָה, עַל כָּל-יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ ”
“Then YHVH said unto me: ‘Out of the north the evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. ”
The process of slaughtering the animal sacrifices in the Holy Temple was always done in the north side, which is the aspect of left column and Gevurah, that represents the desire of the vessel.
Proverb 25:21
“אִם-רָעֵב שֹׂנַאֲךָ, הַאֲכִלֵהוּ לָחֶם; וְאִם-צָמֵא, הַשְׁקֵהוּ מָיִם ”
“If your enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink; ”
The other side is our enemy. They are always there to grab the light from us. The Torah guides us on how to decrease the negativity around us by giving them something from our light in order to let them leave us and have our sacrifices/prayers accepted above.
Remember the common saying, “Throw a bone to the dog so he will let you have the meat.”
It is important to remember that the other side is a part of us. It is the consciousness of the body with the desire for the self. It wants to have more physical pleasures and grow on the material level.
To be spiritually stable we should learn to balance the desire for the self with the desire to connect to the light with pure of actions.
When we feel that the ‘dog’ bites our leg, we should give him a bone in order for him to leave our soul free.
Being busy with the material part of this world ‘locks’ our soul in the prison of the other side. Before enjoying the pleasures of this world we should keep the connection of our soul to its spiritual source. Use the Zohar and the sacred text on a regular basis to have a free soul.
It doesn’t matter whether you read and study from these pages or from your Zohar books. Don’t miss your Daily Zohar.
