Zohar Acharei Mot
Continued from previous DZ
#200
If the High Priest is worthy, when there is joy above, at that very moment below, a desire for light emerges, perfumed with the scent of the “הָרֵי אֲפַרְסְמוֹן טָהוֹר,” pure balsam mountains from above, and it spreads throughout that place. The fragrance enters through the two nostrils of his nose and settles in his heart. Then, everything is in silence, and no speech is found there. The High Priest opens his mouth in prayer, with desire and joy, and prays his prayer.

Notes:
If the High Priest is meritorious, the joy from above manifests below as a spiritual light filled with the sweet scent of balsam, a symbol of purity and holiness. This fragrance, entering through the High Priest’s nostrils, brings tranquility and fills his heart with a sense of peace. In this state of profound stillness and sanctity, where even speech is absent, the High Priest prays with deep devotion and joy, knowing he is aligned with the will of the Creator. There is a delicate spiritual atmosphere during the High Priest’s service in the Holy of Holies, where both the physical and spiritual worlds are intertwined through the High Priest’s actions and inner state.

#201
After the High Priest finishes his prayer, the cherubim lift their wings as they did initially and sing. Then, the High Priest knows that there was favor, and it is a time of joy for all, and the people know that his prayer was accepted, as it is written: “אִם יִהְיוּ חֲטָאֵיכֶם כַּשָּׁנִים כַּשֶּׁלֶג יַלְבִּינוּ” “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)  The High Priest steps back and prays again. Blessed is the portion of the High Priest, for through his actions, joy is found above and below on that day. Regarding that time, it is written: Psalm 144:15
“Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is YHVH!”

Notes:
After completing his prayer, the cherubim resume their movement and song, signaling that Hashem’s will is favorable and joy fills both the upper and lower realms. The people, seeing these signs, understand that the High Priest’s prayer has been accepted, symbolized by the transformation of their sins, as indicated in the verse from Isaiah.
The High Priest recognizes this favor, steps back, maintains reverence, and prays once more. His merit brings about joy in both the heavens and on earth. The section concludes with the acknowledgment that the people are fortunate to have YHVH as their God, reflecting the unity between the High Priest’s actions and the Creator.

Friday would be a good day to make a ** Donation, especially if you didn’t donate in the past week. Giving on Friday, which is an aspect of Yessod, expands the vessel for the Light and honor of Shabbat.
** Your donation doesn’t have to be given to the same place every week. You can alternate or split your donation among those who benefit you spiritually.
