Daily Zohar # 5037 – Miketz – Choose life
Daily Zohar 5037

Let us return to the earlier matters. “וּלְיוֹסֵף יֻלַּד שְׁנֵי בָנִים בְּטֶרֶם תָּבוֹא שְׁנַת הָרָעָב”, “And to Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine came” (Genesis 41:50).
Rabbi Yitzchak opened: “וְהָיָה שְׁאֵרִית יַעֲקֹב בְּקֶרֶב עַמִּים רַבִּים”, “And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples” (Micah 5:6).
Come and see: Every single day, when the light rises, one bird is aroused in the tree of the Garden of Eden, and calls three times. And the scepter is raised, and the herald proclaims with strength: The laws of choice say to you: Who among you sees and does not see, who are in the world and do not know for what they are in the world, do not look at the honor of their Master, the Torah stands before them and they do not strive in it. It would be better for them if they had not been created than if they were created. Why should they rise without understanding? Woe to them when the days of evil are aroused upon them, and they are driven from the world. And this is the secret of the verse: “רְאֵה נָתַתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ”, “See, I have set before you” (Deuteronomy 30:15), etc., “וּבָחַרְתָּ בַּחַיִּים”, “and you shall choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19).
Notes:
A bird in the Garden of Eden’s tree calls thrice at dawn, with the herald warning of free choice: strive in Torah or face woe. The righteous remnant (Jacob/Israel) endures among nations, choosing life through Torah amid evil days.
#239
He asks: What are the days of evil? If it comes to your mind that they are the days of old age, it is not so. For the days of old age, if he merited sons and grandsons, they are days of good. And if so, what are the days of evil?
Notes:
The “days of evil” are not old age, which can be good with descendants, but the times of reckoning for neglecting Torah and divine purpose. This underscores the warning to choose life through Torah, avoiding woe from accusers in the world of truth.
