Daily Zohar 5187

Zohar Vayikra

#374
As long as Knesset Yisrael comes before the King and the Torah is not found with her, as it were, her strength is weakened. Woe to those who weaken the strength of above. Because of this, fortunate are those who occupy themselves with Torah, and all the more so at the time when they need to participate with Knesset Yisrael — that is, at midnight. Then the Holy One, blessed be He, calls upon him: “וַיֹּאמֶר לִי עַבְדִּי אָתָּה יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר בְּךָ אֶתְפָּאָר” “And He said to me: You are My servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified” (Isaiah 49:3).
#375
Rabbi Yosi opened and said: “מַשָּׂא דּוּמָה אֵלַי קֹרֵא מִשֵּׂעִיר שׁוֹמֵר מַה מִלַּיְלָה שׁוֹמֵר מַה מִלֵּיל” “The burden of Dumah. One calls to me from Seir: Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?” (Isaiah 21:11). This verse, the friends established in several places. But “the burden of Dumah” — its meaning is: As long as Israel are in exile, the time and the end of their exile is known, and the time and the end of that exile. But the exile of Edom is “the burden of Dumah,” for its end has not been revealed and is not known like those other exiles.
Notes:
When Knesset Yisrael (the Shekhinah) approaches the King without the support of Torah study from below, her strength is weakened. Those who neglect Torah weaken the upper realms. Conversely, those who study Torah — especially at midnight, and after, when they join the Shekhinah in praise — merit the highest declaration: “You are My servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
The “burden of Dumah” (also means silence) refers to the current exile under Edom (Rome and its spiritual successors). Unlike previous exiles whose end was revealed, the end of this exile remains concealed. This teaches the unique challenge of the final exile and the vital role of Torah study in strengthening the Shekhinah and hastening redemption.
