479. וְעַל בְּשַׁגַּ”ם שֶׁהוּא בָשָׂר עוֹמֵד הַדָּבָר לְהָרִיק (לְהַרְחִיק) רוּחַ שֶׁל חַיִּים. בְּשַׁגַּם אָחוּז לְמַטָּה, אָחוּז לְמַעְלָה. וְעַל זֶה שָׁנִינוּ מֹשֶׁה לֹא מֵת, אֶלָּא הִתְכַּנֵּס מִן הָעוֹלָם וְהָיָה מֵאִיר לַלְּבָנָה, שֶׁהֲרֵי הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ, אַף עַל גַּב שֶׁמִּתְכַּנֵּס מִן הָעוֹלָם, לֹא מֵת, אֶלָּא נִכְנָס וּמֵאִיר לַלְּבָנָה, כָּךְ מֹשֶׁה.
480. דָּבָר אַחֵר בְּשַׁגַּם הוּא בָשָׂר – בִּמְשִׁיכַת הָרוּחַ בִּבְנֵי אָדָם זְמַן רַב, חוֹזֵר לִהְיוֹת הַבָּשָׂר לְהִמָּשֵׁךְ אַחַר הַגּוּף וּלְהִשְׁתַּדֵּל בְּמַעֲשֵׂי הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה.

And therefore the verse says, “for that he also is flesh” (Genesis 6:3), because of “Beshegam,” who is flesh, that is, Moses clothed in the flesh of the body. In him the matter depends, to pour the spirit of eternal life. For “Beshegam,” who is Moses, is held above and held below. That is, Zeir Anpin above is also called Moses. Therefore the verse is exact: “Beshegam he is flesh,” to show that the intention is upon Moses below, who is clothed in flesh—that is, through the Giving of the Torah —for then they would be free from the Angel of Death, as above.
And therefore we have learned that Moses did not die, but was gathered from the world to the upper world, to Zeir Anpin, and he shines there to the moon, which is the Nukva. The sun, though gathered from the world, does not die—that is, it is not nullified, but it enters and shines to the moon. And so is Moses, who withdrew from the lower world and shines to the moon in the upper world.
Notes:
“בְּשַׁגַּ”ם (Beshegam) is flesh” points to Moses below, through whom the Torah could draw eternal life. Like the sun that does not die when it sets but shines to the moon, Moses was gathered above to Zeir Anpin and continues to shine to the Nukva.

Another meaning in the verse “for that he also is flesh”: because the spirit of life was drawn into human beings for a long time, the spirit returned to become flesh, that is, like a body — meaning to follow after the desires of the body and to occupy itself with the possessions of this world. And the measure of the verse is: He will not draw the spirit of life into man for many days, because “Beshegam he is flesh,” because with the length of time they turn the spirit into flesh.
Notes:
A second reading: when life-spirit remains in a person too long, it sinks into the body and its desires. Therefore, the long lifespan was withdrawn, so that the spirit would not become flesh.
