Zohar Noach
Continued from previous DZ
#195
Like a king who built a palace, and made under the ground of the palace fortified hiding places. In time, the dwellers of the palace rebelled against the king, and the king surrounded them with his armies. What did they do? They came and hid themselves within the fortified tunnels. The king said, I made these hiding places, and from before Me you want to hide in them. And this is what it says, “אִם יִסָּתֵר אִישׁ בַּמִּסְתָּרִים וַאֲנִי לֹא אֶרְאֶנּוּ נְאֻם יְהוָה” “If a man hides in secret places, shall I not see him? says YHVH” (Jeremiah 23:24). I am the one who made the fortified tunnels. And I made light and darkness, and you, how will you be able to hide from before Me?
Notes:
The parable shows that the hiding places themselves were made by the King. Those who rebel and hide in them cannot escape Him, for He made the tunnels, the light, and the darkness.

#196
When a person sins before his Master and continues and brings himself into hiding, that is, he brings himself to think that there is no one who sees him, the Holy One, blessed be He, does the judgment upon him openly. And when a person purifies himself, that is, when he does repentance, the Holy One, blessed be He, seeks to hide him, so that he will not be seen on the day of the anger of YHVH. For it is certain that a person needs to hide himself so that he will not be seen before the destroyer when he rests in the world, in order that he will not look at him. For all those who are seen before him, he has permission to destroy them.
Notes:
One who sins and hides, thinking no one sees him, is judged openly. One who repents is hidden by the Holy One, blessed be He, so that the destroyer, when he rests in the world, will not see him and destroy him.
