Hebrew translation:

721. רַבִּי חִיָּיא פָּתַח, בְּאַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר יוֹם לַחֹדֶשׁ פֶּסַח וְגוֹ’. שֶׂה שֶׁהוּא פֶּסַח, מַדּוּעַ? אֶלָּא יִרְאָתָם שֶׁל הַמִּצְרִים וֵאלוֹהַּ שֶׁלָּהֶם הָיָה שֶׂה. מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהַמִּצְרִים עוֹבְדִים לְמַזַּל טָלֶה, וּמִשּׁוּם זֶה עוֹבְדִים לַשֶּׂה. בֹּא וּרְאֵה, כָּתוּב (שמות ח) הֵן נִזְבַּח אֶת תּוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם. מַהִי תּוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם? וְכִי עַל שֶׁשּׂוֹנְאִים אוֹתוֹ כָּתוּב תּוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם? אֶלָּא יִרְאָתָם שֶׁל הַמִּצְרִים וְהָאֱלוֹהַּ שֶׁלָּהֶם נִקְרָא תּוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב (דברים יח) כְּתוֹעֲבֹת הַגּוֹיִם, יִרְאָתָם שֶׁל שְׁאָר הָאֻמּוֹת.
722. בֹּא וּרְאֵה חָכְמָתוֹ שֶׁל יוֹסֵף, שֶׁכָּתוּב (בראשית מז) וּמִקְצֵה אֶחָיו לָקַח חֲמִשָּׁה אֲנָשִׁים, וּמְלַמֵּד אוֹתָם לוֹמַר, אַנְשֵׁי מִקְנֶה הָיוּ עֲבָדֶיךָ. וְכִי יוֹסֵף שֶׁהָיָה מֶלֶךְ שֶׁהָיָה שׁוֹלֵט עַל כָּל הָאָרֶץ, וְאָב לְמַלְכוּת, עָשָׂה כָּךְ, וְעָשָׂה לְאֶחָיו שֶׁיִּשְׂנְאוּ אוֹתָם וְלֹא יַחֲשִׁיבוּ אוֹתָם (שֶׁיַּעֲשׂוּ מֵהֶם רוֹעֵי צֹאן)?! אֶלָּא וַדַּאי תּוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם, יִרְאָה וֵאלוֹהַּ שֶׁלָּהֶם נִקְרָא כָּךְ, וְעַל זֶה כָּתוּב (שמות ח) הֵן נִזְבַּח אֶת תּוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם.

 

Pinchas 721-722

Genesis 47:2
“וּמִקְצֵה אֶחָיו, לָקַח חֲמִשָּׁה אֲנָשִׁים; וַיַּצִּגֵם, לִפְנֵי פַרְעֹה”
” And from among his brethren he took five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh ”

Joseph took the five weakest brothers (relatively) and present them in front of Pharaoh as shepherds. The Egyptians treated shepherds as low level servants so why Joseph, who was the second to Pharaoh, presented low image of his brothers and family to Pharaoh?

Joseph wanted to protect his brothers so he put them in the land of Goshen, a place where they have fruitful land and freedom to grow stronger and benefit from the riches of Egypt.

The Egyptians worshiped the ram and they didn’t eat it. Taking care of the sheep gave the Israelites control over the God of the Egyptians.
