Hebrew translation:

79. בֹּא רְאֵה, אִם בֶּן אָדָם נִמְשָׁךְ אַחַר הַקָּבָּ”ה וּתְשׁוּקָתוֹ אַחֲרָיו בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה, אַחֲרֵי זֶה כְּשֶׁיּוֹצֵא מִמֶּנּוּ, הוּא נִמְשָׁךְ אַחֲרָיו, וְנוֹתְנִים לוֹ דֶּרֶךְ לַעֲלוֹת לְמַעְלָה אַחַר אוֹתָהּ מְשִׁיכָה שֶׁנִּמְשָׁךְ בְּרָצוֹן כָּל יוֹם בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה.
80. אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, יוֹם אֶחָד נִפְגַּשְׁתִּי בְּעִיר אַחַת מֵאוֹתָם שֶׁהָיוּ מִן בְּנֵי קֶדֶם, וְאָמְרוּ לִי מֵאוֹתָהּ חָכְמָה שֶׁהָיוּ יוֹדְעִים מִיָּמִים רִאשׁוֹנִים, וְהָיוּ מוֹצְאִים סְפָרִים שֶׁל הַחָכְמָה שֶׁלָּהֶם, וְקֵרְבוּ לִי סֵפֶר אֶחָד.
81. וְהָיָה כָּתוּב בּוֹ, שֶׁכְּמוֹ שֶׁהָרָצוֹן שֶׁל הָאָדָם מִתְכַּוֵּן בּוֹ בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה, כָּךְ מַמְשִׁיךְ עָלָיו רוּחַ מִלְמַעְלָה כְּמוֹ אוֹתוֹ הָרָצוֹן שֶׁנִּדְבָּק בּוֹ. אִם רְצוֹנוֹ הִתְכַּוֵּן לְדָבָר עֶלְיוֹן קָדוֹשׁ, הוּא מַמְשִׁיךְ אוֹתוֹ הַדָּבָר מִלְמַעְלָה לְמַטָּה אֵלָיו.

If a person in this world follow the ways of the Torah and God with desires to reveal light in the world then after he pass away, his soul is elevated higher to where the souls shine with great light.
The desires in this world are translated in the world above for positive or negative. The desires with negative aspects lead to the path of painful cleansing while the desires for the light lead to a place of greater light and spiritual pleasures.

Rabbi Aba shares that one day he came across a city of people with ancient wisdom. The people told him about their wisdom, showed him their books of wisdom and gave him one book.

In this book he read that the thoughts of a person draw the force that matches his consciousness. If a person seeks holiness, he will draw holy light from above down to his level.
