Leviticus 21:9
“’Also the daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by harlotry, she profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire.”
The priest has the aspects of the angel Michael and Chessed. His soul is like his daughter. If she steers away from the duties of her father, she needs to be cleansed by burning to remove the impurity from it. The process is like the way a silversmith refines the silver by putting it on fire to remove the impure elements from it.

Similarly, the Israelites that desecrate the Torah, the Holy One Blessed be He send them to exile among the descendants of Esau, level of evil dog and Ishmael, level of the Snake. Their time in hardship allows them to separate the bad from the good.
Zechariah 13:9
“And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ And they will say, ‘YHVH is my God.'”
The process will take until they are thoroughly purified from their sins.
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says YHVH, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.”

The Israelites are the aspect of the Good side of the Tree of Life of Good and Bad, and the Erev Rav has the bad side. When the Erev Rav have a negative influence on the Israelites, they experience ‘bitter water.’ When they connect to the Tree of Life, they activate the good side, and the water becomes sweet.
Exodus 15:25
“Then he cried out to YHVH, and YHVH showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet. There He made for them a statute and regulation, and there He tested them.”
Lesson;
Our soul is tested all the time. When we finish one challenge/tikun, a new one appears on our path. If we give up, we experience the bitterness that comes when the Light is away from us. The choice is always to connect to the Tree of Life because it’s the only thing that can bring ‘sweetness’ into our lives.
The prophecy in Zechariah 13 tells about the last war when two-thirds of the world population would die. The last third of the world would go through the final cleansing process that would remove the flaws that the soul inherited from the current and previous lifetimes.
