Zohar Mishpatim
Continued from previous DZ
#143
The Elder opened and said,
Psalm 131:1
“A Song of Ascents. Of David. O YHVH, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.”
King David said this because he was a supreme king and ruled over all supreme kings. The rulers from east to west were afraid of his might, but it never occurred to him to deviate from the righteous path. He always humbled his heart before his Master. When he was engaged in the Torah, he would put in his strength to study, and his eyes were always lowered to the ground in fear of his Master. When he was walking among the people, he had no rudeness at all.

#144
And on this, it is written, “YHVH, my heart is not lifted.” Despite the fact that I am king and ruler over all the other kings of the world, my eyes did not deceive me while I was standing before you engaged in the Torah.
King David said while I walk among the people, “I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.”
The elder continues, if King David said that, even more so with the rest of the world. How lowly is my heart, and my eyes are lowered before the Holy King? God forbid that I take pride in the holy words of the Torah. The elder cried, and his tears fell on his beard.

Lesson;
Before revealing secrets, the Elder humbles himself by reciting the words of King David, who was always humble before Hashem and continuously studied the Torah.
The act of receiving wisdom resembles the flow of water from a higher point to a lower point.
To receive wisdom, we must lower ourselves. Even when we feel we have understood something from the Torah, we should thank Hashem and ask for more knowledge. The Torah has limitless levels of understanding, and as we continue to learn and grow, we will always desire more knowledge.
