Zohar Naso

#170
Rabbi Abba said, “All of them together are blessed with the twenty-two inscribed letters of the Holy Name, which are included and concealed in the Priestly Blessing. With the Name of twenty-two letters, everything is blessed. They are mercy within mercy, with no judgment found in them.”
He asks, “But is that so? For it is written, ‘יִשָּׂא ה’ פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ!’ ‘May YHVH lift His countenance upon you,’ and “יִשָּׂא’ ‘lift’ implies judgment.” Rabbi Abba answered, “‘Lift up’ means to remove and pass over, so that no judgment is found at all.”
#171
Rabbi Yosi said, “We have learned that when the priest raises his hands, the people are forbidden to look at him because the Shechina rests on his hands.” Rabbi Yitzchak said, “If so since they do not see, how does this harm them? For it is written,
Exodus 33:20
“וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא תוּכַל לִרְאֹת אֶת פָּנָי כִּי לֹא יִרְאַנִי הָאָדָם וָחָי.”
“But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”
They do not see in their lifetime; only in their death do they see.” He replied, “Because the Holy Name is hinted at in the fingers of their hands, a person must fear. And even though they do not see the Shechina, they should not look at the hands of the priests so that the people do not become brazen towards the Shechina.”
#172
We have learned that when the priest raises his hands, the people must be in reverence and awe, knowing that at that moment, a favorable time is present in all worlds. Both the upper and lower levels are blessed, and there is no judgment among them. It is the time when Atika Kadisha is revealed in Zeir Anpin, and peace is found in all the worlds.
Lesson;
This teaching emphasizes the profound significance of the Priestly Blessing, highlighting the moment as one of Hashem’s favor and blessing. The act of the priest raising his hands is not just a ritual but a powerful spiritual event that brings harmony and blessings to all levels of existence. The revelation of the Atika Kadisha in Zeir Anpin during this time symbolizes the ultimate manifestation of Hashem’s mercy and peace, ensuring that no judgment prevails and that all worlds are nourished with grace and tranquility. The people’s reverence and awe reflect their recognition of this sacred moment and their participation in the collective sanctification and reception of Priests blessings. During the blessings, we meditate on the 22 letters mentioned previously (#162).
