#189
Rabbi Abba wept and said, “The deeds of this man are greater than those of Joseph. For Joseph, those who wronged him were his brothers; it was natural for him to have compassion for them because of their brotherhood. But what this man has done—acting this way toward all people—is greater than Joseph’s deeds. He is truly worthy for the Holy One, Blessed be He, to perform miracle upon miracle for him.
#190
He opened and said, “הוֹלֵךְ בַּתֹּם יֵלֶךְ בֶּטַח וּמְעַקֵּשׁ דְּרָכָיו יִוָּדֵעַ” “He who walks in integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will be known” (Proverbs 10:9). This refers to a person who follows the ways of the Torah. “Walks securely”—this means that the harmful forces of the world cannot harm him.
“But he who perverts his ways will be known”—Who is “will be known”? This refers to someone who strays from the path of truth and seeks to repay his fellow with harm, meaning he desires to repay evil for evil, thereby transgressing “לֹא תִקֹּם וְלֹא תִטֹּר אֶת בְּנֵי עַמֶּךָ וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ אֲנִי יְהוָה.” “You shall not take revenge, and you shall not bear a grudge” (Leviticus 19:18).
What does it mean “will be known”? It means that the identity of such a person will become evident to all who seek justice, ensuring that the form of that person is not forgotten by the heavenly court. This is so that he may be brought to account and face judgment—measure for measure. Therefore, it says, “will be known.”

Notes:
Walking in integrity grants divine protection, while those who repay evil for evil become exposed to judgment, with their actions made evident for retribution.
