Hebrew translation:

11. בֹּא רְאֵה, בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁהַכֹּהֵן (הַגָּדוֹל) מִתְכַּוֵּן לְהַדְלִיק נֵרוֹת לְמַטָּה וְהָיָה מַקְרִיב קְטֹרֶת בְּשָׂמִים, בְּאוֹתָהּ שָׁעָה אָז מְנוֹרוֹת עֶלְיוֹנוֹת מְאִירוֹת, וְנִקְשָׁר הַכֹּל כְּאֶחָד, וְשִׂמְחָה וְחֶדְוָה נִמְצֵאת בְּכָל הָעוֹלָמוֹת. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם כז) שֶׁמֶן וּקְטֹרֶת יְשַׂמַּח לֵב, וְעַל זֶה בְּהַעֲלֹתְךָ אֶת הַנֵּרֹת.
12. רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר וְרַבִּי יוֹסֵי וְרַבִּי יִצְחָק הָיוּ הוֹלְכִים בַּדֶּרֶךְ. פָּגְעוּ בְּאוֹתָם הָרֵי קַרְדוֹ. עַד שֶׁהָיוּ הוֹלְכִים, הֵרִים רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר עֵינָיו, וְרָאָה אוֹתָם הָרִים רָמִים, וְהָיוּ חֲשׁוּכִים, וּפָחֲדוּ בְפַחַד. אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר לְאוֹתָם חֲבֵרִים, אִלּוּ אַבָּא כָּאן, לֹא הָיִינוּ פוֹחֲדִים. אֲבָל כֵּיוָן שֶׁאָנוּ שְׁלֹשָׁה וְדִבְרֵי תוֹרָה בֵּינֵינוּ, הַדִּין כָּאן לֹא נִמְצָא.
13. פָּתַח רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר וְאָמַר, כָּתוּב (בראשית ח) וַתָּנַח הַתֵּבָה בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי וְגוֹ’, עַל הָרֵי אֲרָרָט וְגוֹ’. כַּמָּה חֲבִיבִים דִּבְרֵי הַתּוֹרָה, שֶׁבְּכָל דָּבָר וְדָבָר יֵשׁ סוֹדוֹת עֶלְיוֹנִים, וְהַתּוֹרָה כֻּלָּהּ נִקְרֵאת עֶלְיוֹנָה. וְשָׁנִינוּ בִּשְׁלֹשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה מִדּוֹת שֶׁל הַתּוֹרָה: כָּל דָּבָר שֶׁהָיָה בִכְלָל וְיָצָא מִן הַכְּלָל לְלַמֵּד, לֹא לְלַמֵּד עַל עַצְמוֹ יָצָא, אֶלָּא לְלַמֵּד עַל הַכְּלָל כֻּלּוֹ יָצָא. שֶׁהֲרֵי הַתּוֹרָה, שֶׁהִיא כְּלָל עֶלְיוֹן, אַף עַל גַּב שֶׁיּוֹצֵא מִמֶּנָּה סִפּוּר אֶחָד בָּעוֹלָם, וַדַּאי לֹא בָאָה לְהַרְאוֹת אֶת אוֹתוֹ סִפּוּר, אֶלָּא לְהַרְאוֹת דְּבָרִים עֶלְיוֹנִים וְסוֹדוֹת עֶלְיוֹנִים. וְלֹא לְלַמֵּד עַל עַצְמוֹ יָצָא, אֶלָּא לְלַמֵּד עַל הַכְּלָל כֻּלּוֹ יָצָא. מִשּׁוּם שֶׁאוֹתוֹ סִפּוּר שֶׁל הַתּוֹרָה אוֹ אוֹתוֹ מַעֲשֶׂה, אַף עַל גַּב שֶׁהוּא יוֹצֵא מִכְּלַל הַתּוֹרָה, לֹא לְהַרְאוֹת עַל עַצְמוֹ יָצָא בִּלְבַד, אֶלָּא לְהַרְאוֹת עַל אוֹתוֹ כְּלָל עֶלְיוֹן שֶׁל הַתּוֹרָה כֻּלָּהּ יָצָא.

Rabbi Elazar and Rabbi Yosi and Rabbi Yitzchak were on their way when they reached mountains of darkness. While they were walking Rabbi Elazar raised his eyes and saw dark and high mountains that brought feelings of fear. Rabbi Elazar said to his friends: If my father (Rabbi Shimon) was here we would not have to be frightened. Since there are three of us, and we study the words of the Torah, no judgment can come to us.

Rabbi Elazar and his friends didn’t have what we have today. Luckily for us, we can have Rabbi Shimon with us wherever we travel. Using the simple device that most of us carry in our pockets we can connect to Rabbi Shimon any time we like.
