Hebrew translation:

127. וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ אָמַר דָּוִד (תהלים מט) לָמָּה אִירָא. לֹא כָתוּב יָרֵאתִי, אֶלָּא אִירָא, [אֶלָּא] שֶׁיֵּשׁ [שֶׁאֵין] לִי לִפְחֹד מֵאוֹתָם יְמֵי רָע, כְּפִי שֶׁאָמַרְנוּ. עֲוֹן עֲקֵבַי יְסוּבֵּנִי, מִי הֵם עֲקֵבַי? אֵלּוּ הֵם בְּסוֹד הָאֱמוּנָה, שֶׁכָּתוּב (בראשית כה) וְיָדוֹ אֹחֶזֶת בַּעֲקֵב עֵשָׂו. זֶה הוּא הֶעָקֵב, וְהֵם הָעֲקֵבִים שֶׁמִּסְתַּכְּלִים בָּהֶם תָּמִיד, בְּאוֹתוֹ הַחֵטְא שֶׁאָדָם דָּשׁ בּוֹ תָּמִיד בַּעֲקֵבוֹ.
128. בֹּא רְאֵה מַה כָּתוּב? (ישעיה ה) הוֹי מֹשְׁכֵי הֶעָוֹן בְּחַבְלֵי הַשָּׁוְא וְכַעֲבוֹת הָעֲגָלָה חַטָּאָה. בְּחַבְלֵי הַשָּׁוְא – שֶׁדָּשׁ בּוֹ בֶּעָקֵב וְלֹא חוֹשֵׁשׁ עָלָיו, וְאַחַר כָּךְ מִתְחַזֵּק וְנַעֲשֶׂה [בְּחַבְלֵי הַשָּׁוְא] כַּעֲבוֹת הָעֲגָלָה, וּמִתְחַזֵּק אוֹתוֹ הַחֵטְא, וּמַסְטֶה אוֹתוֹ בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה וּבָעוֹלָם הַבָּא.
129. אַשְׁרֵיהֶם הַצַּדִּיקִים שֶׁיּוֹדְעִים לְהִשָּׁמֵר מֵחֲטָאֵיהֶם, וְהֵם תָּמִיד מְפַשְׁפְּשִׁים בְּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא יִמָּצֵא עֲלֵיהֶם מְקַטְרֵג בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה, וְלֹא יַשְׂטִינוּ עֲלֵיהֶם לָעוֹלָם הַבָּא, שֶׁהֲרֵי הַתּוֹרָה מְתַקֶּנֶת לָהֶם דְּרָכִים וּשְׁבִילִים לָלֶכֶת בָּהֶם, שֶׁכָּתוּב (משלי ג) דְּרָכֶיהָ דַרְכֵי נֹעַם וְכָל נְתִיבֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם.

Psalm 49:6
“לָמָּה אִירָא בִּימֵי רָע עֲו‍ֹן עֲקֵבַי יְסוּבֵּנִי.”
“Why should I fear in the days of evil, When the iniquity at my heels surrounds me?”
King David said the above in the present tense. It means that he always has fear from the days of evil that are days of judgments. The iniquity that surrounds his heels is the iniquity that is neglected on a low level that can easily be ignored.

Genesis 25:26
“וְאַחֲרֵי כֵן יָצָא אָחִיו וְיָדוֹ אֹחֶזֶת בַּעֲקֵב עֵשָׂו וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ יַעֲקֹב וְיִצְחָק בֶּן שִׁשִּׁים שָׁנָה בְּלֶדֶת אֹתָם.”
“And after that came to his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel, and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bares them.”
The Zohar explains that the heel has aspects of faith and holiness. That is why Jacob held Esau’s heel. King David mentioned it because the Klipot surrounds the iniquity that is ignored and pushed down to the ‘heel.’
The Klipot observe the ‘heel’ for transgressions to find them and inflict judgments on the person. That is why King David always feared such iniquities.

Isaiah 5:18
“הוֹי מֹשְׁכֵי הֶעָו‍ֹן בְּחַבְלֵי הַשָּׁוְא וְכַעֲבוֹת הָעֲגָלָה חַטָּאָה”
“Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, And sin as if with a wagon rope;.”
Woe to those who ignore the minor sins, letting them get dragged behind their heels as if they have no weight. These sins get more significant and hold the person like a strong rope that pulls a wagon.
When sin gets stronger, it leads the person off the righteous path in this world and carries the same into the next world.

Blessed are the righteous, who know how to guard themselves against making sins and always examine their deeds to avoid judgments in this world and the world to come.
The Torah opens for them ways and paths to walk in, as it is written;
Proverbs 3:17
“דְּרָכֶיהָ דַרְכֵי נֹעַם וְכָל נְתִיבוֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם.”
“Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.”

Lesson;
The path for our protection from all sins is in the study of the Torah.
“Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.”
