199. כָּל זֶה יֵשׁ לְנִשְׁמַת הַצַּדִּיק לוֹמַר עַל הָרְשָׁעִים. כֵּיוָן שֶׁלֹּא נִמְצָא בְיָדָם כְּלוּם, מַה כָּתוּב? וַיֵּלֶךְ ה’ כַּאֲשֶׁר כִּלָּה לְדַבֵּר אֶל אַבְרָהָם וְאַבְרָהָם שָׁב לִמְקֹמוֹ. מַהוּ לִמְקֹמוֹ? לִמְקוֹם מַעֲלָתוֹ הַיְדוּעָה.

All this the soul of the righteous has to say about the wicked, since nothing is found in their hands. What is
written? “וַיֵּלֶךְ יְהוָה כַּאֲשֶׁר כִּלָּה לְדַבֵּר אֶל אַבְרָהָם”, “And YHVH went when He finished speaking to Abraham” (Genesis 18:33). “וְאַבְרָהָם שָׁב לִמְקֹמוֹ” “And Abraham returned to his place”. What is “to his place”? To the place of his known level.
Notes:
This Zohar passage interprets וַיֵּלֶךְ יְהוָה כַּאֲשֶׁר כִּלָּה (Genesis 18:33), continuing the theme of the righteous’ merit. The righteous soul pleads for the wicked, but lacking deeds, YHVH departs, and Abraham returns to his level (Chessed). This underscores the righteous’s role in sustaining divine light, contrasting the wicked’s emptiness.
Main Point: The righteous soul intercedes for the wicked, but YHVH departs (וַיֵּלֶךְ) when no merit is found, with Abraham returning to his level of faith.
