Zohar Beresheet
Continued from previous DZ
#451
“וַתִּפָּקַחְנָה עֵינֵי שְׁנֵיהֶם” “And the eyes were opened…” Rabbi Chiya said that they were opened to know the evils of the world, which they did not know until now. Once they knew and their eyes were opened to know evil, then they knew that they were naked, for they had lost the upper radiance that had covered them. And it withdrew from them, and they remained naked of it.
Notes:
After the sin, their eyes opened to the knowledge of evil. They then perceived their nakedness, because the upper radiance that had clothed them departed and left them exposed.

#452
“וַיִּתְפְּרוּ עֲלֵה תְאֵנָה” “And they sewed fig leaves” (Genesis 3:7). Its meaning is that they clung to cover themselves with the shadows of that tree from which they ate. For the leaves of the tree make a shadow beneath them. The meaning is that there is a shadow from holiness, in the secret of “בְּצִלּוֹ חִמַּדְתִּי וְיָשַׁבְתִּי” “In his shadow I delighted and sat” (Song of Songs 2:3). And likewise there is a shadow in the opposing side, in the secret of “זֶה לְעֻמַּת זֶה עָשָׂה הָאֱלֹהִים” “God has made the one opposite the other” (Ecclesiastes 7:14). And after they sinned with the Tree of Knowledge, the shadow of the tree of death, which is the secret of “shadow of death,” was drawn over them. And in the place where they first had the upper radiance that hovered over them, they were now found in the shadow of the Klipa, which is called fig leaf.
“וַיַּעֲשׂוּ לָהֶם חֲגֹרֹת” “And they made themselves girdles.” Rabbi Yitzchak said, Once they knew of this world and clung to it, then they saw that this world is conducted by these leaves of the tree, and they made themselves a strengthening, to strengthen themselves with them in this world. The meaning is that before the sin, the world was conducted by holiness alone. And through the sin of the Tree of Knowledge they caused the Mochin to fall from the levels of holiness, and the Klipot were filled from the destruction of holiness. The conduct was given into the hands of the Other Side, in the secret of “אֶרֶץ נִתְּנָה בְיַד רָשָׁע” “The earth is given into the hand of the wicked” (Job 9:24). And it is found that with the sin of the Tree of Knowledge they gave power and rule to the fig leaves, which are the shadows of the Other Side, to rule in this world. And then they knew all kinds of sorcery in the world, and they wanted to gird weapons from the power of these leaves of the tree to protect themselves.
Notes:
After the sin, they covered themselves with the shadow of the Tree of Knowledge, which is the shadow of the Klipa instead of the upper radiance. The Mochin fell from holiness, the Klipot were filled, and the conduct of this world passed to the Other Side. The fig-leaf girdles represent their attempt to draw strength and protection from that opposing shadow.
