193. בֹּא רְאֵה, אוֹתָם רִשְׁעֵי הָעוֹלָם גָּרְמוּ כָּךְ לְכָל הַבְּרִיּוֹת, וְרָצוּ [לְהַשְׁכִּיחַ] לְהַכְחִישׁ מַעֲשֵׂה בְרֵאשִׁית, וְהֵם גָּרְמוּ לְכָל הַבְּרִיּוֹת לְהַשְׁחִית דַּרְכָּם כְּמוֹ שֶׁהֵם הִשְׁחִיתוּ. אָמַר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, אַתֶּם רְצִיתֶם [לְהַשְׁכִּיחַ] לְהַכְחִישׁ מַעֲשֵׂי יָדַי? אֲנִי אַשְׁלִים רְצוֹנְכֶם, וּמָחִיתִי אֶת כָּל הַיְקוּם אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה. אַחֲזִיר הָעוֹלָם לְמַיִם כְּמוֹ שֶׁהָיָה בַּהַתְחָלָה, מַיִם בְּמַיִם, וַהֲרֵי נִתְבָּאֵר. מִכָּאן וָהָלְאָה אֶעֱשֶׂה בְּרִיּוֹת אֲחֵרוֹת בָּעוֹלָם כָּרָאוּי.
194. וַיָּבֹא נֹחַ וּבָנָיו וְאִשְׁתּוֹ וּנְשֵׁי בָנָיו אִתּוֹ. רַבִּי חִיָּיא פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (ירמיה כג) אִם יִסָּתֵר אִישׁ בַּמִּסְתָּרִים וַאֲנִי לֹא אֶרְאֶנּוּ נְאֻם ה’. כַּמָּה הֵם בְּנֵי אָדָם אֲטוּמֵי לֵב וּסְתוּמֵי עֵינַיִם שֶׁלֹּא מַשְׁגִּיחִים וְלֹא יוֹדְעִים בִּכְבוֹד רִבּוֹנָם, שֶׁכָּתוּב בּוֹ הֲלוֹא אֶת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת הָאָרֶץ אֲנִי מָלֵא. אֵיךְ רוֹצִים בְּנֵי אָדָם לְהִסְתַּתֵּר מֵחֲטָאֵיהֶם וְאוֹמְרִים מִי רוֹאֵנוּ וּמִי יוֹדְעֵנוּ, וְכָתוּב (ישעיה כט) וְהָיָה בְמַחְשָׁךְ מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם. לְאָן יֵחָבְאוּ מִפָּנָיו?.

Come and see: these wicked ones of the world caused this to all the creatures, that they would cling to what is not their kind. And they sought to deny the work of creation, that is, to mix the kinds one with another and to deny their form. And they caused all the creatures to corrupt their way, just as they themselves corrupted. The Holy One, blessed be He, said, You want to deny the work of My hands. I will complete your desire. “וּמָחִיתִי אֶת כָּל הַיְקוּם אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה” “And I will blot out all existence that I have made from upon the face of the ground” (Genesis 7:4). I will return the world to water, as the world was at first, water in water. And they have already explained it. From here and onward I will make other creatures in the world as is fitting.
Notes:
The wicked mixed the kinds and caused all creatures to corrupt their way, seeking to deny the work of creation. The Holy One, blessed be He, completed their desire by blotting out all existence and returning the world to water, as it was at first. Afterward He would make other creatures as is fitting.

Rabbi Chiya opened and said, “אִם יִסָּתֵר אִישׁ בַּמִּסְתָּרִים וַאֲנִי לֹא אֶרְאֶנּוּ נְאֻם יְהוָה” “If a man hides in secret places, shall I not see him? says YHVH” (Jeremiah 23:24). How many are the people of closed heart and sealed eye, who do not look and do not know the honor of their Master, of whom it is written, “הֲלוֹא אֶת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת הָאָרֶץ אֲנִי מָלֵא” “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” (Jeremiah 23:24). How do people seek to hide from their sin, and say, “מִי רֹאֵנוּ וּמִי יוֹדְעֵנוּ” “Who sees us, and who knows us?” (Isaiah 29:15). And it is written, “וְהָיָה בְמַחְשָׁךְ מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם” “and their deeds are in the dark” (Isaiah 29:15). Where will they hide from before Him?
Notes:
People with closed hearts hide their deeds in the dark and say, “Who sees us?” Yet YHVH fills the heavens and the earth. There is nowhere to hide from Him.
