Daily Zohar # 1423 – Terumah – Work hard to earn your head

Zohar Teruma
Jacob is the chariot (channel, conduit) for the Central Column, Zeir Anpin and the aspect of the letter Vav ו. He merited that level by studying and following the ways of the Light. He worked hard to earn everything in his life. He worked for Rachel seven years but his reward was Lea. The Zohar reveals to us that Lea was the aspect of Binah and the upper H ה of the YHVH name.
Binah is part of the upper three Sefirot that is the aspect of the ‘head’. Jacob made unification with Lea (Binah) in total concealment. He connected the Vav, which is the aspect of the body, with the upper H, the head.
During the first phase he went up seven years (= Sefirot) to Binah. Then he worked seven additional years for Rachel. It was his way of drawing the Light from Binah down to Malchut that is the aspect of Rachel and the lower letter H ה.
When he completed the process he could leave Lavan and start building the process of the Final Redemption. On his way back to his home land he fought with the angel of the negative side, won and merited the name Israel, ישראל. This name represents completeness with the additional meaning of לי ראש , ‘a head for me’. (see Zohar Hasulam Shemini #12).
Psalms 135:4
“Jacob chose YH יה for himself, And Israel for his own possession (Segulah סגולה)”
Segulah as in Segol is the aspect of the three columns. With the study above we now understand the deep meaning of the verse. Jacob chose to work hard, going up the right column and down through the left column to merit the spiritual state called ‘Israel’, ישראל. It represents completion with connection to YH יה, the head.
The entire study connects to Teruma by showing us another aspect of connecting the Lower H of Malchut with the upper H of Binah. We must make efforts at the lower level in order to draw Light into our life. If something good comes to us without earning it then it includes the aspect of ‘Bread of Shame’ with a process of correction attached to it.
