Zohar Balak
Psalms 86:1
“תְּפִלָּה לְדָוִד הַטֵּה יְהוָה אָזְנְךָ עֲנֵנִי כִּי עָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן אָנִי.”
“A Prayer of David. Incline Your ear, O YHVH, and answer me; For I am poor and needy.”
#192
Rabbi Elazar said that the one that prays should make himself as poor so his prayer would enter above with other prayers of the poor. The gatekeepers above, let these prayers to enter without a process and come before the Holy king.
#193
King David presented himself in four ways. He prayed as a poor, as a godly (חסיד, Chassid) person, as a servant, and as a person ready to give his life as a martyr.
David prayed and testified on himself ‘for I am a godly man’ so he won’t be looked at as wicked. It doesn’t mean for us that we don’t need to confess our transgressions. We confess and repent (Teshuva) because it cleanses us and help us move from the negative to the pure side. It puts us on the Right, Chessed where the right hand of God is stretched out to receive those who repent. That makes them connect to the aspect of ‘godly’ חסיד, Chassid.
Lesson;
We should confess and repent immediately after we find ourselves doing something wrong. It cleanses us and when we come to pray we are in a purer state.
